class i wanted to take next semester an english/literature course thats meets a requirement is already FULL unbelievable its only the 2nd or 3rd day of registration and already 30 people signed up wow that is rediculous... see this is the problem they let random people sign up before me who aren't even seniors WTF. i know this because it is impossible so many seniors would need a sophomore level class, btw this class apparently has all a's for grade distribution no wonder so many slackers want to sign up for it they don't even want to learn the material just get an easy a for grade. can't believe there aren't restricted seats for people who actually need the class for a requirement.
i heard you could ask the instructor to manually put you in if you go on the first day and you are on the wait list, what are the chances of that happening? thanks in advance.

Seems like the people already registered for it learn from the best. They probably signed up for it for the exact reason you were going sign up for it.

They don't just let random people sign up, get involved with an honors society and you can have the same privileges. Oh wait, that requires work... forget I mentioned it.

In regards to your question, from what I've seen/done professors can only do so much as far as adding people to the class. However, being this early in registration and assuming you take that 1 remaining seat in ENG 246, you may stand a decent chance at climbing the waitlist and getting into the class before the semester starts.

If you're still on the waitlist when the class starts, then go to class. However, from my experience, there's only so much a professor can do to add you to the class at that point. Professors have told me before that R&R restricts the number of seats by rooms as well (since any given room only has X number of seats), so it may be that this classroom only has 32 total seats in it (ENG 246 + FL 246 = 32). This number could also be a restriction by the teacher if they have multiple classes to teach. All of this is hear-say, but hopefully it helps answer your question.

Edit: This is doubtful, but some of those students registered could be graduate students. Not sure why they would need a 200-level English other than enjoyment, but still a possibility for the filled seats.

well damn it......its a shame too cause i already looked at the syllabus thats online for it and i know i want to take it, unlike some people that are gonna drop the first day, damn it
you'd think they;d offer more sections of it as it is popular apparently but know they offer crap like english/american literature crap nobody wants to take and is exactly the same as high school

@ blade. think you need at least 120+ hours to register on the first day or two, yeah that brings up another point the only pepole taking that class are either honor society students with special privileges which there are few of, or people with like over 120 hours who should have graduated by now i mean seriously? just freakin graduate already stop taking classes other people need to take jesus

For someone who proclaimed he tried really hard in HS and took a bunch of AP classes and got college credit, you should know all about how transfer credits worked. Besides, with the amount of effort you put in HS, shouldn't you have over 9000 credit hours?

Your class probably got taken by Honors Program students. What class was it? Are you even on the first day for seniors? Sounds like you're just lazy about registration, if you really were as informed about school like you try to make in Study Hall then you would know the high demand classes are instantly booked.

When I was in Honors, I got into the Time Travel class because I got up at 7am and registered the second registration opened for us. The class roster was literally filled within 5-10 minutes.

class is holocaust of literature, screw honors students, they are honor students shouldn't they be taking honors courses that are challenging instead of easy classes?

@calledtoarms. no you stop. you have nothing to contribute so why are you here? actually you should probably be moved to chit chat

^ I don't know the full requirements, but they only have to take something like 12 credits of honors courses out of their ~120 required to graduate (approximately 10%, did the math for you), so that's plenty of room to take a course like this. They have every right to want to take that course. They have hard semesters too, as well as a strict GPA requirement, so why not get a boost?

no why would this be a troll thread?

@ xbltheshadow. ok. i guess you'r right. but now this brings up the question how the hell are the regular folks going to sign up for the class if it gets taken by honors students every semester? because you know they are going to sign up for it, shouldn';t they have a limit to how many honor students can take it? I mean at least make it fair so other people have a chance of getting in
right now they are practically saying "you need to be an honors student to even get in the class even though its not honors designated" which is completly unfair

Nobody cares about a bunch of regular folks signing up for an easy class.

"because you know they are going to sign up for it"

So? That's your problem. Not the school's problem.

That's not fair to the honors student. There was nothing stopping you from being an honors student and having the same rights.

Suck it up. Life isn't fair. Coming here and bitching only makes you look like a bitch. If you think it is unfair, bitch to someone who can do something about it.

When I registered for this class at 7 am, literally it had filled up before my browser had refreshed from me adding it. I was one of the lucky ones. Religion and Darwinism filled up a minute later.

first, i am ashamed that you (the OP) will get a degree from the same university listed on my degree.

but seriously, maybe this is a blessing in disguise. If this class is always full of honors students, it's probably not as easy as the grade distribution reports led you to believe. The difference between you and an honors student is that they are going to work hard no matter what. They don't care how "easy" the instructor grades and what not. They're going to crush it either way. If it's really always full of honors students, the grade distribution reports are skewed. You (a lazy bastard working the system) should/can not expect the results suggested by those reports.

Do you need this specific class? It doesn't just meet a requirement, it is a requirement?

In case you missed the irony, this is exactly what you've bragged about doing in pretty much every school-related thread you've made.

@Duro928. no actually i am ashamed that i will be getting a degree from the same university as you have. the reason is because there are a lot of people who are far worse than me in class rank, gpa, skill, work ethic, and intellgience, obviously, and you are too much of a simpleton to realize that. what i am saying is you act like NCSU is not going to have anyone else who takes it easy like myself when there are plenty of people who take it easier than me (especially in chass) and still get worse grades which is far worse than what i am doing, and apparently you do not approve of even getting good grades although i "work the system", honestly i am shocked by your naivety. finally, i have to point out again i only have 2 B+'s of 20+ A's, 3.9 Gpa, Top 10% of Chass, and Rank 1 or 2 in Department. Obviously it takes a good bit of work to do that, there are only so many easy classes i can take after all. so now are you ashamed, maybe be ashamed of all those people below me first, which there are many of.

Back on topic: i did have that thought, that maybe it was All A's because they mostly are all honor students and they naturally work hard, however, then i looked on the syllabus and only homework assignments and short papers, for grade, no tests so if you do your assignments i am guessing you automatically get an A for completion grade not accuracy.

@ FlyingTiger. no i do not brag i only state the facts. i already stated one fact which is i am better than you, the reason is even though i may put in less work, i still learn and get a good grade, unlike you who needs to do lots of work to get the good grade, and apparently you are still upset over that fact which can only explain the reason why you are intruding on my topics.

this should be in chitchat? are you stupid? if this was gonna be in chit chat, it would already be moved there and it hasn't, fool. maybe you should go back to where you belong cause all you know how to post is these simple "ban troll" "suspend" posts, and you post so unnecessarily that i can tell chit chat is the place where you belong. and finally you don't even post in study hall expect so why does it matter to you what goes on here?

I post plenty in Study Hall. I usually just focus my posting in useful threads.

However, a troll poster who writes/posts with the intelligence of a 5th grader has been done to death on these boards. I was simply trying to save any posters with any real "intellgience"(sic) some breath before they wasted their time arguing with you.

I guess after numerous useless threads/posts by you in Study Hall they should have already gotten the hint though.
