I think what's needed here is a detailed discussion about the definition of "athletic".
10/25/2010 3:02:42 PM
Ernie, We actually do hire people to write our articles on occasion and if you're interested in writing for us please let us know. We pay the going rate for freelance writers and could really use some help since we update you on the current team, past players and recruiting while also bringing you video highlight reels, interviews and live chat on occasion....we do this every single day, all for free.Bullet, I don't think I was stretching it when saying Javi is the most athletic guy on the team. He's the fastest, the strongest and can jump the highest. I'm not sure what else goes into being athletic. CJ Leslie's vertical is only 34 inches, but because of his length and height he seems more athletic to most. Same goes with Harrow, who's vertical is just slightly under Javi's.
10/25/2010 4:24:54 PM
But can Javi dunk?
10/25/2010 4:32:28 PM
you're telling me that javi is stronger than richard howell?
10/25/2010 4:33:10 PM
Seriously, if Howell, Smith and Painter can't bench more than 185 then we are in some trouble.[Edited on October 25, 2010 at 4:36 PM. Reason : .]

i'd like to see some of the other player's numbers as well[Edited on October 25, 2010 at 4:59 PM. Reason : .]

i don't care who the most athletic player is on the team. why don't we compare our entire team to unc or something instead of creating competition within our own team. wtf tmpascuc... you are going to start a war amongst our own players keeping this up.
10/25/2010 5:20:14 PM
i don't know what's worse, packinsider articles or ^
10/25/2010 5:47:19 PM
^ I think its going to come down to which one has the bigger vertical.I actually enjoy a lot of the packinsider articles, but I agree the writing is very amateurish. I swear nobody proof-reads any of the damned articles. Maybe I should volunteer to proof-read for them or something. The thing that annoys me the most though is the cheap-porno-site style of advertising. Every page has 1 or 2 pop-ups, 2-3 banners, and that fucking lady pop-up/page overlay that is scripted into the page.
10/25/2010 7:38:21 PM
he's in no way the most athleticwhich is a bullshit term anyways.people say that Brandon Marshall is the most athletic person in the NFL...but yet how can you judge that?Javi isnt the most athletic, you have outlined certain parameters and probably forgot other valuable ones to measure.
10/25/2010 7:43:30 PM
Glad Javi has set a senior example of committing to the strength and conditioning program.Push-ups, bench press, and sprint speed are really a better indicator of who is most physically fit. Vertical leap is partially fitness and partially how "athletic" one is. Quickness, agility, balance are other elements not picked up on there.
10/25/2010 7:43:38 PM
I think those are pretty good measures of athleticism. They are all body weight, so they are comparable across individuals. And the sprint, pushups, and vertical leap are all power measures, which I would equate with explosiveness. You can also add something like jump 5 times in a row and total up the height. For strength, you go more with max weights.[Edited on October 25, 2010 at 7:59 PM. 10/25/2010 7:56:34 PM
Measures of athleticism is relative to the sport. I think the biggest one they're missing is some measure of quickness, especially lateral quickness. Running speed isn't the same as quickness. Some guys can be slow as shit running (relatively speaking) but will destroy you with quick foot work. Like when Tracy absolutely beasts some lottery pick athlete with a sweet post move.
10/25/2010 8:19:27 PM
he can obviously get up, remember when he contested that UMD dunk last year?of course, that didnt work out so well as he got posterized worse than i've seen in yrs, but it def wasnt for lack of ups.
10/25/2010 8:36:03 PM
^^ Tracy doesn't beat anyone with quickness -- he uses technique. He leans in to them to create space for the hook shot. That's mostly unstoppable until he faces someone like John Henson with ridiculous arm length.
10/25/2010 8:40:39 PM
lack of athleticism can only take you so far, I mean, look at P. Riv and his turnover problems
10/25/2010 9:04:24 PM
Another ill-fitting analogy from Mr. Objectivity.
10/25/2010 9:15:48 PM
i'd like to hear some of mambagrl's insight on the subject
10/25/2010 9:40:24 PM
^^^ hahahaha... and you have the balls to complain about people trolling you?I mean at least with us, 99.5% of the people don't give a fuck about Tennessee... here we are pretty much all huge State/Rivers fans...[Edited on October 25, 2010 at 9:48 PM. Reason : x]

I enjoyed your article. I'm sure Javi enjoys getting some respect after all the work he has put in.

^^Take it easy on JB1.2k. With all UT's problems (sucking at FB, cheating basketball coach, etc) he has nothing else to talk about.
