Didn't see an official thread started up, and the season is about to tipoff. If you want to lock this one and start another thread with official, 2010-11, or 80 *'s in the title go for it.

I'm struggling to understand why many of the same announcers and writers that are picking the Heat to break 72 wins are calling for them to lose tonight. Since both teams can't lose, I hope the Heat do though.

N-BA!

the entire Heat team looks like shit. obviously it's a temporary situation, but 9 points at the end of the 1st quarter isn't what I expected.

I've always hated the Heat (came into the NBA the same year as the Charlotte Hornets, for all you young whippersnappers)

But never can I remember a time when it was so easy for me to pull for the Celtics

agreed. when I saw an Anthony 50 jersey out there running the court for the Heat I thought Greg brought his old ass out of retirement to chase a ring too.

I think it will be very interesting to see how the Heat perform in late game situations like being down 2 points with 7 seconds left with the ball...Wade is your best free throw shooter, Bosh is even a better FT shooter than Lebron, but Lebron is a golden god, so he needs to touch the ball

I'd love to see some TO/McNabb type infighting before the new year, although I'd settle for seeing the disgruntled trio walking off the court after being swept in the Eastern Finals

[Edited on October 26, 2010 at 8:53 PM. Reason : always found it strange they used an MJ pic with him in the not-often-used black jersey]

the Heat have compiled an impressive resume of looking like shit through 3.5 quarters thus far. I hope it continues throughout the season.

just a prediction...but i think it will be a lot of 3-man ball, where none of the other 2 players on the court touch the ball on late possessions...and defenses will quickly adjust and double lebron and double wade, or at least be ready to double any time they get the ball...watch, lets see if i'm right

i just fail to see them with the big 3, and kicking it out to Eddie House for the game winner or something

looked like shit early (first 2.5 - 3 quarters), turned it on late, just cut it to 3, but shuttlesworth just drained a 3 to increase the lead to 6 with less than a minute left

the Heat have a long way to go chemistry-wise if they want to be some mythical 70+ win team, or at least contend for a title in their first year...they looked sloppy all night

a real team is about to play though (not that Boston isn't a real team)

I guess Rally's thread can be the Lebron dicktug and Kobe castration thread and this one we can actually talk about the games and matchups and all.

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to seeing how the Knicks look tonight. Watching the pregame on MSG right now and with the free preview I'll have this game as my flip back from the World Series...

you know utah should be a very interesting team this year, I was about to give up on them when boozer left but that was a brilliant move by them to get jefferson after that, you can tell when a team actually has management that knows what its doing, you could make a case they could improve now with milsap starting now, then again they might suck without boozer too

btw what on earth was denver thinking keeping jr smith, that guy is a cancer that wanted out anyways

Damn Monte Ellis with 46 pts. Talk about an empty stat line otherwise 3 RBs, 2 Assists, 1 steal. Looks like a stat line that Kevin Martin would throw up.

Out of all of those, I'd say only Miller, Nowitski, Kidd, D Wade, Nash, Kobe, Duncan, and Lebron absolutely deserve to be on a list with Chamberlain, Russell, Robertson, Jordan, Magic, Havlicek, et al.

Marbury should be nowhere near the list.

Maybe put Ray Allen as first man out.

Huge game for JJ Hickson. 31 pts on 11/17 shooting. Only 5 RBs, but he is clearly becoming the go to guy for the Cavs on offense. Great to see him having success.

GG KG

Quote :
"The Boston Celtics pounded the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday, and Charlie Villanueva posted messages on his Twitter account that indicate Kevin Garnett may have made it personal.

One of the tweets says: "KG called me a cancer patient, I'm pissed because, u know how many people died from cancer, and he's tossing it like it's a joke."

Garnett is known for his trash talking on the court. Villanueva suffers from alopecia universalis, a medical condition that results in hair loss. The Detroit forward does not have hair on his head."

just read this about JJ Hickson's game last night

"J.J. Hickson scored a career-high 31 points. The fans got so carried away, they chanted "MVP, MVP" when Hickson was at the foul line in the fourth.
