I would have to look at it about a second or two too long to look for the hands. The busy face is fine, but the hands blend into the background too well.

and ^^ WTH do you do for your boss to give you a 1.5k watch?

Rocking this one today in the warm weather. Awesome watch but a little too clunky to work with long sleeves.

I really do like that one. I was debating on a Luminox in that kind of style, but that one peaks my interest.

as much as i like watches i just can't get myself to spend over the ~$500-600 mark on one. And honestly, i spend more time wearing my $100-200 range pieces than anything.

^^^ dad’s company gave him a Rolex.

I’d kinda like to get an Omega or a Breitling, but there’s not really any reason for me to...and it’s a lot of money to spend for something that my Apple Watch beats in every way except for looking cool.

^^ You mean Muller, Franck Muller?

Those cost tens of thousands of dollars. One of those brands where you to fill out a form online for price inquiry!

Anyway, I would love to have a Franck Muller Crazy Hours one day.

I've seen Muller for less than $10k in a few stores and the ones I've seen in person are quite sharp.

My wife got me an Omega Speedy Pro Moonwatch ref 310.30.42.50.01.001 for our 10 year anniversary.

Manual wind, hesalite crystal, the original....but with the new 3861 master chonometre movement

I love it, but I hate her for buying me a ~$7k watch

https://www.omegawatches.com/en-us/watch-omega-speedmaster-moonwatch-professional-co-axial-master-chronometer-chronograph-42-mm-31030425001001

I love the originality and history of the 'manual wind' speedy pro, but its a bit of a pain to keep wound in a covid work from home world. I would love to have an automatic that I can put on a winder.

This was my daily driver for years...

1970 Seiko 6139-6009. Paid $5.00 at an estate sale in Beaufort County. Then $350.00 for service and new crystal in Wake County.

Quote :
"If you’ve got a Rolex Milgauss on your wrist, it’s a clear sign you trace your roots back to a dynasty of prominent natural scientists. Thanks to your perfect French, you, of course, know that the French word for “thousand” is mille, hence the name “Mil-Gauss.” You had your first lessons on the work of German mathematician and physicist Carl Friedrich Gauß in the cradle, which later on made you the undisputed best-in-class, straight-A student (some of your classmates preferred the term “dork”) in school. You loved math, chemistry, and physics, and you later completed several doctoral degrees. Today you’re a top professor for nuclear physics and a leading expert in particle acceleration, working at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). That really awesome, unfathomably high-tech Large Electron-Positron Collider that runs below France and Switzerland? Yeah, that was you. You currently spend your workdays pondering the origins of the universe.

Not true? Not even some of it? Well, wearing a Milgauss does put you in some illustrious company. Celebrities like Eric Clapton, Tom Hanks, Jake Gyllenhaal, Sylvester Stallone, and Jennifer Aniston have been seen donning this model on their wrists. By the way, you’ll get back to us on that whole “origins-of-the-universe” thing, right?"

Recently picked up this Seiko King Samurai Black Waffle as a thank you gift for a business associate. Really impressed w/ the finish and seems to be very comfortable on the wrist. Automatic movement, sapphire crystal, cyclops, ceramic bezel insert, and hacking all for sub $400 on ebay.

I really want to get this, but I am not sure I can afford $650 now. I should be able to in a couple of months though.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/phantasoswatches/the-phantasos-triclops-a-three-armed-rotating-hour-watch

Has a Miyota movement, so should be reliable, which is the most important thing.

I have always been fascinated by watches with that (and other alternative) time-display mechanism. Such mechanisms are only found on niche/artisan Swiss brands that cost upwards of $100k, so to get something similar for $650 is mind-boggling!

The most famous one, and the original one, is Urwerk, whose watch with a mechanism that works like the one above costs $150k:

https://escapementmagazine.com/articles/urwerk-ur-220-falcon-project.html

Of course, they have many insane watches: https://www.urwerk.com/collections

I have been debating on picking up the new Hamilton khaki converter in blue. I like the GMT version, but it's huge. It definitely comes off as a budget navitimer, but I honestly don't mind.

Like the Skyflake and a GMT like this https://www.chrono24.com/seiko/seiko-sbge271---spring-drive-spring-drive-black-dial-stainless-steel-mens-watch--id22060322.htm

Have not seen one in person yet so can't say for certain. Couple stores around the south seem to have some in stock. I like that limited one for this year too but a lot of people are saying it's an acquired taste.

^^^ did you get a Grand Seiko? if not yet, or if you are richer today than a year ago, get a Credor, which is Seiko's ultimate sub-brand, the Lexus of japanese watches.

Wondering if I should go for this Chinese tourbillon... looks great (IMO), and price ($900) is a steal for that level of engineering. Swiss tourbillons (legacy brands) range from at least 20k/30k to millions. New Swiss microbrand tourbillons can be had in the 5k-10k range.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/agelocerwatch/agelocer-super-skeleton-tourbillon-watch-under-1000

There is a cheaper Chinese (but good quality and very beautiful) tourbillon that comes in at around $600-700, and you can see it here:

https://strapsco.com/affordable-tourbillon-watches

See CaelNCSU's last post to see a video review of that tourbillon on the best watch channel on YT.

If you trust a Chinese made tourbillon and especially are willing to drop $1k on it, you’re a more trusting person from me.

Their movements are already suspect, and you’re adding the complexity of a tourbillon to that.

Is there a warranty (that is actually redeemable?). I’d also have an issue knowing that the value of it is basically $0 for resale
