Think you're missing the point entirely.

"be careful with getting your batteries changed, even at authorized dealers, and expecting your waterseal to be as functional as before

at least with tag, as i understand it, the only way for your water seal guarantee to be intact is if you have the battery changed by the factory, which requires shipping it back to switzerland. they'll change the battery, change the gaskets, and do a pressure test.

however, this is like $350 instead of the $15 for a battery change locally.. even a tag authorized repair place doesn't count.

if you're using it a lot for the type of activity where you'd be submerging it and the like, think about these things before getting a battery operated one... the cost of maintenance was surprisingly high.

i just dont understand why anyone would pay like $350 to have the battery changed on a $1300 watch every 4 years or so."

Baileys offers a pressure test when they change the battery for an additional $60 or so to guarantee the seals are still good. I'd assume most good jewelry stores can do the same.

Breitling service on quartz watches is $80-$100 depending on the model. That includes battery replacement, replacement of all seals, and cleaning of the case/bracelet. Kinda pricey, but for something you do every 5 years or so it's not a big deal.

^ yea that isnt bad.

My automatic Breitlings need service every 5 to 7 and are from 500-800 depending on functions and that is if nothing else is deemed wrong.

they do come back all nice and polished in a travel case and with another 1 year warranty

"Thanks for the heads up. So if I'm still getting a 3 year warranty from Jomashop similar to the 3 year warranty from Victorinox then there's really no difference? Repair/maintenance is going to be the same price after either 3 year warranty irregardless of where I get it?"

For an online retailer, you run the risk of them closing or denying your claim. You have less risk when buying from an authorized retailer.

Typically when dealing with aftermarket warranties, I would get everything in writing (which they should do gladly) and then make your decision.

In Costco's case, they would take your watch, have it serviced (at their cost) and ship it to you. Which is stated in your paperwork. I'm guessing Jomashop is similar.

Found another Victorinox I like:

http://www.jomashop.com/victorinox-infantry-classic-251289.html

Compared to my first choice:

http://www.jomashop.com/swiss-army-mens-watch-v251424.html

What do you guys think? The infantry vintage looks more classy but the dive master looks pretty awesome too.

haha classy.

Think I'm still going with the Divemaster 500. Better quality watch from what I hear. Thick but I have big wrists and I love the gunmetal stainless steal. I might have to order it tomorrow.

Be careful with battery changes, I had to go without my watch for a month and it's still not back to 100% (and will never be) because it got fucked up (I have changed it with zero issues, the fucking jewelry stores mess it up and I am done with them once they finally kill this watch with their incompetence).

I'd have demanded a replacement if I'd paid more than $50 for the watch. Sad thing is now I have to keep on taking it back to the same place that fucked it up, because any other shop would blame anything on the first shop, and the first shop wouldn't do crap because someone else had touched it.

Next time, but this is my beater watch so I got the cheapest all titanium women's watch I could find on ebay. Plus I've already had it over 5 years and the only problems were battery change induced.

You can get pick up some fairly cheap vintage tissot's and hamiltons. Those two and some skagens are all my "beater"s. I'm just lacking in some decent watches. HA! I've been looking at some vintage omega and rolexs to add some "nice-ness".

I prefer smaller faces, in comparison to most of the huge monstrosities put out today. I'm also really fond of the minimalism of the 50s and 60s watches.

You can't get vintage titanium ladies watches. I could barely find anyone that made new ones 5 years ago. Thankfully they are more popular now so finding my next will be easier.

Amazon just added that model direct from amazon for the same price:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003SFMIFE

2 year amazon warranty versus 3 year Jomashop warranty.

Jomashop also says ships in 1-2 weeks whereas Amazon ships next day and I get shipping with Amazon prime.

Should I just order it from Amazon?

I like ordering from amazon. That's just me though.

I prefer a long warranty, but personally, if it doesn't fail in the first year, it's not going to fail (of course there are exceptions to every rule).

Both the watches you have chosen are very nice, but the Diver 500 has better quality components.

A sapphire crystal with an AR coating is a nice thing to have.

^Thanks. Yeah I feel good ordering from Amazon. A 2 year warranty is fine. If the quartz movement fails because it's defective then it'll probably happen within the first 2 years. Going to just do that. Going for the Divemaster. It's the better watch and it radiates awesomeness haha.

Belk's had it. Played with it for a while. Absolutely love it. Lady tried to get me to buy it for $995 on a Belk's card. Told her I'd think about it because she took out 3 links on an Invicta I picked up at Cosco for $39:

Nice little watch if anyone wants to add to their cheap Invicta collection.

^ great idea. First thing i thought when i saw the new nano form factor is how awesome it would look on a wrist and how easy it was to make a wristwatch adapter. I cant beleive that there is not an official Apple wristwatch band for those.

this watch is pretty hot:

Took me a minute to figure out the chronograph. It's weird not having a big second hand move all the time (unless you keep the chronograph on all the time). The constant second hand is just the tiny one on the bottom.

It's always crazy on sale. They have been putting ridiculously high MSRP on their watches for years and then selling them to people who were tricked into thinking they got a great deal. They're one step above the white van speaker scam guys in my opinion.

I actually enjoy winding them and setting the time on my automatics. Some do actually live on watch winders when I do not have them on.

I have wanted and manual wind, that would need to be hand wound.

A LOT.

But I don't think I would want to wear it everyday. & I'm not coughing up three grand for a watch I'm not going to put on every morning.
