New season (and last I believe) of Friday Night Lights started last week on DirecTV. Second episode was tonight.

Comes on Wednesdays on the 101 network.

I just watched the first episode... thought it was good. Its nice that they're not trying to introduce tons of new characters like last season. Can't wait to see how they tie everything up.

I just started watching this show in August...Watched the first season when it was syndicated on ABC Family. Then I watched the 2nd, 3rd and 4th seasons on Netflix.

Watched the first episode of Season 5 this morning. I'm glad they didn't bring in a whole new cast like they did last season.

did they ever say where Julie was going to college? I guess she decided against joining Habitat for Humanity.

i don't think they ever said, perhaps they'll show her on a specific campus in the future. the show has been weird about using different college's names.. in the beginning they made up schools (TMU i think?) but as it's gone on they've used real schools... Rice and UT come to mind.

i need to go back and watch season 4.. what school was julie looking at with her mom?

This show is so good. If they end up fucking up Vince's opportunities at the next level, like they did Smash, I wont forgive the writers. This season needs to end as a feel good show.

Landry can never win with the ladies

Poor guy.

So I'm confused...Luke's mom was all up in arms b/c Tami was the principal of West Dillon...and she gave council to Becky. So Luke's mom went all crazy and started this whole uproar.

So Tami is now a guidance counselor at East Dillon where both Becky and her son attend.



Last season, I really thought (before Becky's pregnancy) that they were going to try and make Luke and Becky the new Matt and Julie.

I like that they didn't.

Downloaded the first episode last night. Guess I'll have to download the next one. I'm too impatient to wait the months it'll take it to get to NBC. Sucks that it's the last season.

^I think he might have been referring to the fact that he had a scholarship to play college football and then his knee injury happened. I can't remember what school he was going to go to but they ended up pulling the scholarship after the injury.

Coach Taylor had to work with Smash to get him back to his old self. And then he had to scramble to find a team that would take Smash.

^ Yes. I can't remember if he ended up playing for a big school after all that, but it took 2 seasons to get that shit resolved. Vince needs to get the fuck out of the ghetto, and make something of himself at a big school.

the only couple clues that smash ended up ok at A&M were when coach taylor was watching tv during smash's debut game and he was killing it and buddy was recruiting some kid and mentioned how smash was 'tearing it up at A&M'.

I'm happy that Mindy didn't let Becky go back home.

so when this season started, they said Tim had 3 more months to go in jail...I wonder if he'll be in an episode soon. I can kind of see him getting out of jail and getting in between Becky and Luke's budding romance.

I think Buddy is hilarious with his whole "cure a troubled kid with football" agenda. He did it w/ Santos (the kid that Lyla met while volunteering at jail) and now again with Buddy Jr.

The next episode isn't for two weeks but it looks damn good w/ Julie getting slapped by the T.A.'s wife.

Did you guys read into Vince getting pulled away from Luke's entourage? I thought it was strange the coach wanted luke to go there, and to invite his buddies, not even talking to vince on the field, then he pulls him into his office during the visit.

I think I squealed when I saw that it was Matt at the door

I knew that Matt was coming back for a couple episodes but I wasn't expecting him in last night's episode

I'm interested to see what happens next week when Luke and Becky run into his parents. I've always thought that any relationship that they have (whether it be just friends or romantic) would be awkward b/c of his mom.

last episode was awesome. I thought it was so sweet that Matt brought his grandmother a Christmas tree but Mrs. Saracen made me really sad

Can anybody find me the words to the warrior cry that they do? That's gonna be my new jam.

I wonder if any other characters are going to come back next episode. I would think maybe Lyla would come back since it seems to be around winter break. And maybe Landry too.

Whatever happened to JD, the Panthers quarterback? Has he already graduated?

What do you guys think will happen? I think Tami will take the Dean of Admissions job and Eric and her will move to Philadelphia. Maybe her new college has a football program that Eric can coach. Or he can start one.

I guess from the previews, it looks like Matt might propose to Julie. YAY!

^ He's going with Tammy. His character has been about making good, honorable decisions. Staying in Texas, to be in a situation he doesnt really want to be in (coaching the Panthers again), just to coach doesnt fit his persona. He is going to move with Tammy. I dont know if we'll have a clue about his next job before the series ends...

can't decide if they're going to win state or not though.... i think i'd be a little upset if they end it like the book/movie, but i don't know.

as for JD, i assume his family moved out of dillon and took him to another high school.. i'm fairly sure he wasn't old enough to have graduated yet.

final episode tonight

I'm going to be sad to see it go. Great show. I only started watching back in August (or whenever they started showing it every day on ABC Family) but I watched every episode on Netflix when they took it off ABC Family.

I'll probably watch the finale season again when they put in on NBC this Spring.
