In 2007, Grant was involved in a federal immigration hearing in Atlanta where he faced deportation when officials had to determine if he had entered the country illegally from Jamaica as a child. The case was later closed. Grant went on to have a standout season with the Wolfpack during 2007-08, his senior year. The home invasion occurred at 1723 Crossroads Arbor Way on Sept. 24 around 10 p.m., police reported. Police say Grant was one of two armed bandits who forced their way into the apartment and assaulted the residents before attempting to rob them. The residents told police they fought off the men and fled before the suspects were able to complete the robbery, Sughrue reported in a late-afternoon news release. Police were able to identify Grant as one of the men involved in the attempted robbery and assault. The second man has not yet been identified. They both remain at large. Police have obtained arrest warrants charging Grant with one felony count each of first-degree burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit armed robbery, according to the press statement. Efforts to locate Grant are under way, and anyone with information concerning his whereabouts or other information that may assist the investigation of the case is asked to call Raleigh CrimeStoppers at 834-HELP.
