There hasn't been a thread about Search since 2008, so I'm not sure if this has been covered before.

Anyway, currently the Search function can "Sort By" Rank and Date. Date's function is pretty obvious, and I assume Rank is just how related the thread title / post is to the terms input. I was using Search today in Chit Chat to find a relatively high-use thread that had a very, very common term for TWW... beer.

And it occurred to me, when I couldn't FIND THE GODDAMN THING, is it possible to add a third parameter for the search, Activity? Basically, listing the threads in Ascending or Descending order of when they were last posted in?

This isn't really about anything that's broken with the Search function as much as something that might be beneficial to the way it operates. If a thread is neither new nor old, and if it has a slightly complicated title (but still contains the search word, like beer), but is active, it would be easy to find it with such a proposed function.

Being able to add tags to future entries might be an easy place to start, although it wouldn't help retroactively.
