I too can understand the frustration of a crying baby + extreme exhaustion and slipping. Definitely put your baby down and walk away for deep breaths. I would step outside so I couldn't hear him for a few minutes.

It does get easier. It will pass. It will not last forever. Just keep telling yourself that and whatever works just keep doing it.

this may seem like an odd question, but i'm gonna ask it anyway. on whatever forms we fill out for baby (birth certificate & whatnot), what should we put as the race? parker is half white, half asian (actually chinese + cambodian). is there a "2 or more" option? are we allowed to choose asian (thinking of the potential for school loans/grants & stuff down the road)? is it wrong of us to choose asian?

I don't think it is wrong. Heck, just consider the history of 'black' in America. And I think that you are also asked your own race as the parents of the child. I wouldn't stress about it.

Hahaha so true. I have the app on my phone so will sometimes lurk the December board when bored. Last time I was on there there was a girl asking if rubbing cum on her stomach would reduce stretch marks

omg that's awful. here's another example: girl is in labor & delivery, in a room, hooked up to monitors & whatnot. every time she lays down she sees stars & this has her worried. instead of asking a fucking nurse or doctor, she gets on babycenter to see what the internet thinks. YOU'RE IN THE FUCKING HOSPITAL! ASK A NURSE/DOCTOR!!!! jesus christ

Looked for stroller and crib last weekend, but didn't find many varieties. I know a younger couple bought a stroller for $800 only because it was lighter. Is it worth spending so much? They bought it in NYC. No stroller above $400 in Raleigh.

I saw a $1200 stroller at Buy Buy Baby in Cary the other day. I have no idea who spends that kind of money on a stroller

I can understand spending a bit more money for a lighter stroller but $800 still seems really high to me. We're registered for a $200 stroller because it works with the car seat we want to get and it's relatively light.

Well, living in big city like New York needs taking subway everyday. So it's reasonable to buy a very light stroller to hold it.

You can buy a light stroller for less than $800.

My parents bought us this stroller

http://www.babyjogger.com/city_miniGT_sngl_dtl.aspx

They are also buying us a carseat. I'm going to get the car seat adaptor and then get the Chicco KeyFit30 car seat

When I was reading reviews of the Chicco KeyFit30 a lot of parents were saying it gave their kids contact dermatitis, heat rash, lesions, etc.

Never had any of those issues with our key fit. Loved it actually. Was very sad when he grew out of it.

^ 2 yeah I was surprised when I read that since overall it gets high reviews but there were enough parents commenting on it that we're looking into other options. Father's side of the family has skin issues to begin with so trying to mitigate dealing with that as much as possible lol.

We had the keyfit and loved it. I had no problems with dermatitis or any such thing. LOVE the carseat.

Also love the Evenflo Triumph for the convertible seat.

Its not so bad

The lemon-lime drink tastes like really sweet Sprite. After I drank it, I saw my doctor, listened to the heartbeat and then went and waited in the lobby for the rest of the hour. Then I got my blood drawn and tested right there and then. Blood was 124 (girl said the cutoff was 140) and iron was at 12.1 (they like for iron to be 11.0 and above)

when i did my glucose test, i had fruit punch & it actually tasted pretty good.

almost 3cm today. doc said he really thought i would have had the baby by now. when he said "any day now" last week, i thought he meant "any day now, in the next couple of weeks"...not actually any. day. now. i'm ready though. let's do this.

When my best friend was pregnant and really wanted the baby out of there (had like a week to go til her due date or something) her doctor gave her a shot that had an 80% chance of causing labor to occur w/in 24 hours

and she had the baby the next evening.

My understanding is a lot of doctors are shying way from electively inducing labor anyway.

And you're still ahead of your due date, right?

I think a lot of doctors aren't wanting to induce early, partially because due dates aren't exactly precise science, neither is measuring or weighing a baby before it's born. What might show up as a 7 pound baby might actually only be 5 pounds. That's not to say there aren't situations in which I would induce early (safety, etc.).

yeah. i'm not due til august 9th. i haven't had an ultrasound since 24(?) weeks, so idk where the size estimate is now. neither my local OB nor UNC are interested in starting things any earlier than they naturally would, although UNC said that if baby doesn't come by the due date, they'll schedule an induction for 41 weeks. my myasthenia gravis makes them worry so they don't want me running too far over.

My back has started to hurt. I have a desk job so I sit in front of a computer all day. I've been trying to get up and walk around every hour or so just to keep my muscles stretched out.

My husband said that maybe I should go to his chiropractor

Try yoga! It's been helping me a TON with back problems. And as a bonus the instructor has been teaching us positions to help with labor.

Yes. Yoga is amazing for the aches pains and labor tips. What benefit me most was opening up during the breathing of contractions versus crunching over...made it more bearable. If that's possible.

I've been doing my pre-natal yoga classes not far from your work, Sam. They're at Love in Bloom across the street from Rex Wednesday nights 6:30pm-7:30pm. This session will be finishing up on the 29th and then the fall session starts. I do it through Healthy Moms NC: http://www.healthymomsnc.com/index.asp

^ Oooh, good to know! Maybe I'll buy a few diapers just in case no one buys us the cloth diapers we registered for.

^^ Yeah, I have to really keep myself from buying stuff every week when I go to class. If they send you the fall schedule can you forward it to me?

Yeah, I emailed them yesterday and haven't heard back yet.

This baby is a kickin fool this morning. I like watching my stomach to see the little "pops" from where he is kicking/punching. It freaked my brother out this morning. I was standing talking to him and all of a sudden, he's looking at my stomach and said that it looked like something was trying to escape

we had every intention to use cloth diapers, but disposable diapers are MUCH easier and they aren't really as expensive as we thought they were going to be.

we already have all the cloth diapers (gifts) & my husband lost his job back in may, so we're taking any cost savings we can. i don't mind putting a little more effort into washing & prepping if we can save some money. i'm also not a big fan of how much waste they generate, although we're not doing this for environmental reasons. if someone gives us disposables, we'll use them, bc we didn't pay for them.

Milk diapers you can just throw directly into the washing machine. I would think those are preferable to when they start eating solids.
