Last Sunday we had AT&T come out to fix a cable box and they ended up replacing our wireless router as well. Up until they disconnected the old router every computer in the house was connected with internet access.

Upon replacing the wireless router, I have just one computer that can connect to the router but cannot connect to the internet. The rest can access the internet no problem. Signal is fine, I've tried directly connecting with a cable but still get the limited connectivity.

Any ideas why only one of my computers cannot connect?

More information:
-Problem computer is running Vista
-I have laptops/desktops running XP, Vista, and Windows 7 that all connect wirelessly no problem.

Remove the network connection, Uninstall the wireless adapter & wired adapter on the computer. Shut down computer.

Shut down all the rest of your PC's.

Reset the router to factory defaults.

Boot the computer. Let it detect the network devices. Plug in hardwired to the router as the only device. See if you get connectivity. If so, connect via wireless, and check connectivity.

Then bring the rest of the computers online one by one.

I dont think this is a router issue as much as a config issue on the one machine.

Like Noen said, sounds also like it might be a driver issue.

I may have spoke too soon, I thought had my wireless working but when I moved my computer back up to my room I getting the same issues.

I repeated Noen's steps, and I am on a wired connection as we speak. I have tried disabling the wired connection and connecting with the wireless card. I am able to communicate with the router but I cannot connect to the internet.

When I try to ping the default gateway I get:
"Destination host unreachable"
3/4 packets are received.

Not sure where to go from here...

Coincidence I know but I think your wifi card is dying.

How far is this laptop from the transceiver? Might also be shooting out diff pwr levels than your old one and you're getting interference from somewhere that it was able to power through before.

That said wired > wireless.

It's a desktop that I usually have upstairs in my room. right now I have it downstairs about 2 feet away from the router, signal strength = excellent.

And yea it may be my wireless card dying, but it's just strange that I can pick up the router no problem, and also that this problem started right after the router was replaced.

Well its slightly coincidence. The routers probably have different power outputs and the new one isnt as strong as the old one. This is probably the case if it works fine near the router but not up in your room. The change in routers if its dying (this could happen regardless) is just enough to show it.

Well the thing is I get the same results for wireless up in my room. I can connect to the router, but but it's showing "local only" connectivity (no internet). This is the same for when it is 2 feet away. The only way I can get my machine to connect to the internet presently is ethernet cable. This is not ideal because my workspace is upstairs, out of cables reach.
