Does anyone here have this game? I'm looking to get more familiar with tracks before I get there in person and have to spend half my day riding to learn them instead of working on body position and form. Bonus for anyone who's been on the tracks in the game and can speak to the game's accuracy

VIR is insanely accurate compared to any other game I've done. The vehicle dynamics are great as well. Since they laser scan everything so little bumps and dips, curb heights, and the slight elevation changes all just feel right in my experience. Laguna Seca is the only other track I've personally been on and that feels like what I remember as well. There are a few physics oddities that mainly have to do with netcode (a little lag can send you up on 2 wheels) and the tire models are a little more forgiving than true race tires, but you can get a very good feel for the flow of the track and the lines prior to going there.

awesome, thanks. I'll probly try it for one month. I'm going to try it with a 360 controller since I don't do cars and a wheel and pedal set don't do anything for me

^^ I'm sorry, but if you're going to just use a 360 controller, you're wasting money on iRacing.

And the main allure of iRacing is the online play. iRacing is ridiculously expensive though. You will need to buy cars and tracks and pay a monthly fee. I'm sure you knew some of this.

I'm not into online racing. I find that rFactor is a great buy. A one time fee of 40 or 50 bucks, and you have it for life (I've had it since it was released).

You can download mods, including cars (like the 1994/1995/1998/2005/2006/2007 CART/CCWS mods and 2008/2009 IndyCar mods, F1 mods, sports car mods (Grand AM), NASCAR). Just go here for a VERY complete list of mods:

Best of all, they are all free. rFactor 2 is coming out probably next year.

There are also an assload of tracks. Many are excellent, some are conversions from old tracks and some aren't great. VIR is there (it is a conversion, but a highly rated one), Road America, Road Atlanta, Laguna Seca.

If you're trying to learn the layout, I think rFactor is what you seek, especially if you aren't going to use a steering wheel.

anyone on here still play iracing? I'm getting a wheel this christmas and have been looking at iracing for a little while. it looks to be alot of fun and isn't as expensive as I thought it to be(if you race enough, you get money back to you and they run promo codes all the time where you can re-up your membership for less than an xbox online membership). Just wondering if anyone on here does this.
