I find it a bit odd that such an ardent conservative would be so distrustful of big business. Should we also not believe a word business says when they say raising their taxes will lead to less jobs, or do we defer to basic economics in this case?

“People of the same trade seldom meet together, even for merriment and diversion, but the conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public, or in some contrivance to raise prices.” Adam Smith

You should never believe anything any business says without suspicion. This goes also for business lobbying in favor of the health-care reform bill, cap'n'trade, card-check, trade barriers, etc., all of which are designed to favor one group of large businesses and suppress competition from (smaller, newer, non-unionized, foreign, etc) competitors.

If you want to tax them, go ahead, they will soon earn exactly the same level of profits. But whatever you do, don't give them what they want, for it is the regulation they themselves favor which is the true job killer.

Businesses in forced unionization states would love to stop their right to work competitors in other states from offering American consumers lower prices. For example, UPS was hoping to use EFCA as a weapon against FedEx.

Unions are as much a business as any corporation.

Not sure why, both parties are pretty much equally beholden to large corporations.

Furthermore, unions largely own GM and the only special interest group BHO hasn't sold out has been the unions.
