It would be great if the NCAA used this loss as an opportunity to conveniently shit all over them now since they're losers. Not holding my breath though, but I will take it!

I'm proud as hell of our guys for battling 5v8 until the bitter end. I'll never get over this loss but our guys left it all on the court. The refs screwed us plain and simple. "

Can never ***** about the travel call in 2005 again. That was one call. Nova was gift-wrapped this game by absurd officiating."

Quote :
"We would have had to blown them out to win. If it was close the NCAA was able to make sure we did not win with the investigation and all that is and has been going on. Absolutely awful officiating and even the commentators for TBS mentioned a number of them. This is not sour grapes but the God's truth. The NCAA can kiss my grits for all I care. A great team with a great bunch of young men got robbed due to something that happened long before they got to campus. Screw the NCAA."

A guy I know on FB is flying home from Asia and the flight took off just after tip-off. He's a huge UNC fan and he will have to wait 15 hours to find out they lost.

Hard hitting legal advice for suing the onion in one of the threads.

And a whole lot of "This is our sanction."

Sanction for what? Did you forget the company line? Deny Deny Deny.

This is a great point. Probably the three biggest shots now in tournament history were a Duke win, a State win, and a UNC loss. We aren't good enough to be on the losing end.

It's ok. Teams bounce right back from crushing losses. Just look at Houston basketball...

what the holy shit does that even mean ?? it didn't even win, it tied the game .... not to mention they lost. im so confused

maybe that's how cheating is justified ... "well in my eyes it's not really bad?"

"My son is 9. After the last second shot, he took it well and I felt good about that. Nothing worse than the camera guys at the stadium (we weren't there) zooming in on crying kids after a loss. He actually understood the game was hard fought, that somebody had to lose. Then, a few mins later, he broke. He was suddenly very upset. I had all but forgotten what he was feeling at this moment and it took me back to 1981 when we lost the title game to Indiana. After a few minutes, I understood what he was upset about. It wasn't the loss, it's that he'll never get to watch Marcus play again at Carolina.
I did all I could to let him know that MP is a great young man, who will go on to play professionally. That it's just the nature of NCAA basketball. As I mentioned before, it took me back to my childhood. Al Wood was my favorite as a kid, when I was almost the same age as my son. I explained that to him, that this new kid came the next season. I was hoping he'd be as good, but I just wasn't sure anybody could be as good as Al Wood. That kid turned out to be pretty okay. His name was Mike Jordan. He laughed a little at that, b/c he knows who Michael is but the pain was still there.
It was a tough night as father. I've not yet even let the loss sink in. My son forced me to quickly move away from game mode and into life mode."

moral victories lol

^^the crying kids thing doesn't really bother me. it's sad to see, i guess. but i really don't have much sympathy for somebody whose team lost a game. especially when that team is one of the most successful programs in the history of the sport. i mean - come on kid, there's gonna be plenty of chances for you to celebrate your team winning titles. like, that 9 year old kid has seen more basketball and football success in his short life than i have seen for nc state in my entire life. naw - i don't feel bad for him. he can wipe his tears with that Helms banner.

I think the ncaa knows there is nothing they can actually pin on us so they are punishing us by 1) dragging it out so it hurts recruiting and 2) reffing like we saw last night. Plus they still get to make all the $$$ off us bringing in the TV ratings. The media is happy because they get a villain and lots of free clicks writing stories rehashing the same old lies as the past 5 years"

it's amazing they can ignore good hard concrete factual evidence AND not realize that unc is the reason the investigation has gone on for so long

"For anybody who wants to say the fix wasn't in...
Noticing on the replay of the last shot. The rules say that the refs have to review the final shot. Granted, it wasn't really close...but the refs still have to review it. We all know that from the Cincinnati / St. Joseph's game.
And yet, as soon as the buzzer goes off, the fireworks pop and the confetti rains down. Not a half second hesitation.
"

I was unaware the ref's fired confetti cannons as well ...

the replay of Jay Wright's reaction clearly shows the ref telling him to hold on as he points to the review monitor ...

What this team needs...
1:11 PM
(1 vote)

Roy needs to look long and hard for a 6-8 or 9 player who wants the ball, begs for the ball and will not be denied a shot when he gets the ball, and if he misses he's going to the line. Yes I know finding another Tyler Hansbrough will be hard, but that's exactly what this team needs. A leader who refuses to accept defeat and would rather jump in hell with his britches soaked in gasoline than to lose. With Tyler last night Heels win by 20 points."

In the meantime, here is the full report: http://dig.abclocal.go.com/wtvd/docs/102214-UNC-FINAL-REPORT.pdf

ctl f "basketball"

Quote :
"These paper classes were taken by students of all types, but were especially popular among student-athletes, particularly those who played the “revenue” sports of football and men’s basketball. Many of these student-athletes were referred to these classes by academic counselors in the Academic Support Program for Student-Athletes (“ASPSA”) who were always under pressure to maintain student-athlete eligibility and saw these classes – and their artificially high grades – as key to helping academically-challenged student-athletes remain eligible and on the playing field."

Since the issue is a university wide problem, and not an athletics-only issue, they may decide to take a scholarship away from each sport. Would be shocked to see a post-season ban for men's basketball, especially after the comments lately."
