We need to establish our tempo early and not getting lulled into a slow paced game by them. Similar thing happened against Georgetown (although GTown is not as slow-paced as Wiscy) and our offense was terrible.

Honestly, I think Vandenberg and CJL are going to play a fairly pivotal role in this game. I know, I know, we're talking Big V and CJL here, but hear me out. Their big man down low (Leuer) is 6'10'', but moves like he's 6'6''. I just don't see Painter as enough of a defensive threat to shut down their leading scorer. Vandenberg may not be that great on defense...but you can't teach big. He has the same amount of blocks as Painter in half of the time. Leurer must be stopped (though as I am typing this, Leurer just hit a 3, so...we'll see how that goes). As for CJL, Wisconsin is looking pretty weak getting defensive rebounds. We ought to send CJL in to crash the boards on every trip down the court. I hope Howell can really bring up the intensity on the rebounds, too. This season he's looked pretty lackluster.

Let's just hope that our young guys step up in what will be probably the toughest environment they've played in, and our other guys can stay consistent for 40 minutes.

Lost to Northwestern last year. The year before we weren't eligible to participate because we sucked the year prior. In 07-08, Mich St ran us. In 06-07 (Sid's first year) we beat Michigan 74-67.
