somebody tell me stuff about Orlando. My dad sent back an email saying he did some research and found out pretty much what I've heard, that it's a shithole. Trying to decide if I should try to convince him otherwise, or if I'll just feel like a douche for wasting a lot of his money

I traveled to Orlando for our game @ UCF this year. Stayed with a friend who is a student there, so I can't vouch for any hotels. It's JMO, but I wasn't impressed with the area as a whole. If you're into the whole Disney thing, then that's there for you. There's a lot of shopping around there, outlets, the typical touristy "strip" like Myrtle Beach and the like.

The downtown part, near the new Amway Center, isn't too bad, but looked like it could get sketchy. And there are definitely some ghetto parts around as well. Take tons of change with you and be prepared to get raped by toll roads anywhere you go. If I were you, I'd go to the game, then travel somewhere else for a couple of days if you're trying to make the trip more worthwhile...maybe Tampa.

I'll be going down the Monday before the game for the pep rally thing with a coworker and her friend! GO PACK! 2nd ever bowl game (first being the 2003 Gator Bowl vs. Notre Dame)!

Orlando is awesome for nightlife if you go to Church Street or Wall Street. Basically a mini bourbon street where you can walk from bar to bar no covers and walk with your drink in your hand in the street. Orlando women are quality. I think we are going Monday to Wednesday. Trying to see...do you guys think we will win the lottery easy? Seems like a lot of students are fairweather.

I was just down there in August for a convention, and stayed on the strip at International Drive (a bunch of hotels and restaurants that run down to the Orange County Convention Center). It's fairly close to the highway, and I think we were about 10-15 minutes from the big parks, but I didn't mind it.

It's a definite tourist trap...like Myrtle on steroids...but there's a lot to do if you don't mind stuff like Disney/Ripley's/etc (touristy stuff).

Won 6 tickets in the student lottery. Can someone please explain to me how the heck this is going to work. All 6 of us cannot find a time to go to the WPC office together. I called them and they said we all have to be there with our vouchers and ID's. I figure there is gotta be someone there that will work with us. What do you guys think? I mean unless we go in the same time frame. Regardless I would like to sit together. Where do you guys think our seats will be?
