Searched for this and nothing came up. Does anyone have any experiences with these? There are a bunch of ads on craigslist right now and the pictures inside look great? I've driven by it's obvious they're old so I assume utilities are more expensive. I read a few reviews online and there are far more negative ones than positive. It's the first home for me and the new fiance so any help would be appreciated! 12/6/2010 7:10:07 PM |

I lived on the corner of Chester and Grant in the end unit of that converted duplex house, so my setup and utility situation was a little different than most of their properties
The apartment was fine and I liked the area. Never any issues with the ownership, though I had no issues and thus never tested their response.
They didn't try to screw me out my deposit like the fucking Dennings, so they have that going for them. 12/6/2010 7:33:03 PM |

That makes me feel better because the biggest complaints were definately maintenance (then charging for it) and security deposit issues. I guess a lot of the time people only post when they have a bad experience. 12/6/2010 10:00:43 PM |

My sister lived on Grant and really liked it. It was a quiet street and the only complains she had were all parking related. 12/7/2010 2:12:35 AM |

That was originally the spot I was going to move to this past October until I had a run in with the owner. He's a dick and was an absolute asshole to my mother.
So 2 days before I was to move, I dumped that plan and picked another location. I was sad because I loved the charm of the cottages I toured. There were some lovely renovations to the inside, but I'm happy where I am for now.
GOOD LUCK!!! 12/7/2010 5:39:03 PM |

I live one block from these (off of Baez)... They really don't look like much on the outside, but like someone said, it is a pretty quiet little area. I walk my dog by them all the time. The few people I know who have lived there like them. 12/7/2010 6:03:40 PM |

Thanks for the help. I guess we'll just inspect everything and take a lot of pictures for our records if we get a place. Should be setting up a time to view a few soon. 12/7/2010 9:40:55 PM |

I lived in them quite awhile ago.
1) Like the wooden floors & older feel of the places. 2) Didn't get any of our deposit back but that was my roommates damn fault. 3) Weirdest thing I encountered there: I would walk to NCSU on occasion and a few times one of the owners/landlords would stop me and demand to know why I am in the neighborhood (he didn't recognize me as his tenant). It was very off-putting for some reason... 12/8/2010 11:44:37 PM |

^4 fucking signed. i had some run ins with the owner at my previous job and he's a major asshole. i've also heard maintenance requests aren't followed up on quickly. went to look at them back in april/may and not really worth the money imo. plus just knowing how much of a dick the landlord is swayed my decision. 12/8/2010 11:47:57 PM |
