They released a patch on PC this weekend, I haven't played it yet though. Should be out on consoles this week probably.

i glanced through the questlist on uesp.net

i am on the last mission of the thieves guild, finished the main companions quest, have about 6-7 more quests in the main questline, havent done anything in the dark brotherhood aside from enter it the first time, 2-3 more missions in the Imperial/Stormcloack questline, 1 more in bards college, 1 more in winterhold...i think i'm a level 54 or something

and i have 20/24 stones of barenziah and about 11 of the daedric artifacts

i'm only the thane in a couple towns though

There is no way I would ever take Azura's Star over the Black Star.

Black soul gems are fairly rare, you can buy all of the other ones at a dozen merchants across Skyrim.

My Black Star always stays enchanted with whatever Forswarn/Bandits/Necromancers/Vampires I've run up on lately.

The only soul gem I repeatedly run out of is lesser, and I'd much rather have a soul gem that lets me soul steal idiots over bears.

I guess it depends on whether you care about giving your character a theme or just powergaming. Black star is more powerful but if you're trying to play a good character you probably wouldn't use black souls.

seems pretty impossible to play a "good" character, and do anything other than the boring errand boy things or the main quest line.

Good characters in video games have always seemed so silly to me. You play games to escape from reality, which for me and most here, is a series of mundane repetitive tasks that leave you soulless and empty inside. When I fire up the xbox, I want to be the bad guy. I want to do all the stuff I can't do in real life. Good guy? Shit.

first character: good guy

second character: bad guy (bad girl actually)

sometimes its nice to be able to walk through a town without every single guard attacking you

its like in FO3, you play one guy who saved Megaton, another who nukes it

WARNING SPOILERS

Okay, So I did the quest in Markarth where you have to go to the Cidna Mines and break out but now every time I go back to the city the guards will accost me and I can't pay off the bounty or go to jail so it either just keeps going or I have to fight my way out. Those bastards killed shadowmere too

I don't remember Azura's star being that bad. I believe my battle mage was about lvl 35 when i got it. I've had more difficulty with elder dragons.

Damn that might be L337Lauren. She fits the small percentage of females hot enough, rich enough, and nerdy enough to be the chick in that picture.

Plus we know first hand she loves Skyrim.

Goddammit, if you're going to spawn a random ass dragon and make me fight him, don't let me get in one fucking arrow and then have him fly halfway across a realm spitting fire at mudcrabs and shit.

Build a better bow and get better at archery and you won't need more than one arrow.

hahaha, that shit infuriates me to no end. Start fighting a random dragon and he runs off to fight a bear or some shit. Before I got dragonrend, my best bet for killing random dragons was to run near a town or other encampment and hope he would land to fight them.

i have my wife Mjoll following me now along with the family dog...gave her my Daedric Armor and took my glitched duplicating mannequin set from my Riften home and put double enchantments on my armor with enchanting potions active...good shit...my boots can carry about +37 and move silently...helmet regenerates magic like 79% faster and does something else, frost resistance maybe...gauntlets boost unarmed and one handed...armor regenerates health and stamina faster i think

just noticed my alchemy is at like a 30...need to work on that

My character is a level 76 Khajiit who wears:

Daedric Helmet 357 Armor (Bow Damage +47%, Waterbreathing)
Daedric Armor 729 Armor (Stamina Regen +29%, Heavy Armor skill +29 points)
Daedric Gauntlets 330 Armor (Bow Damage +47%, One Handed Damage +47%)
Daedric Boots 330 Armor (One Handed Damage +47%, Frost Resistance +54%)
Daedric Shield 213 Armor (Fire Resistance +54%, Shock Resistance +54%)
Gold Diamond Necklace (Bow Damage +47%, One Handed Damage +47%)
Gold Diamond Ring (Bow Damage +47%, One Handed Damage +47%)

With the above armor equipped my weapons are:

Daedric Bow 546 Damage (+36 Fire Damage, +36 Frost Damage)
Daedric Mace 520 Damage (+36 Fire Damage, +36 Frost Damage)

Skills & Perks:

Alchemy (Alchemist 5/5, Physician, Benefactor)
Alteration (Novice & Apprentice Alteration, Magic Resistance 3/3)
Archery (Overdraw 5/5, Eagle Eye, Power & Quick Shot)
Block (Shield Wall 1/5, Deflect Arrows, Elemental Protection, Block Runner, Power, Deadly, and Disarming Bash, Shield Charge)
Enchanting (Enchanter 5/5, Fire, Frost, Storm, Insightful, & Corpus Enchanter, Extra Effect)
Heavy Armor (all)
One Handed (Armsman 5/5, Fighting Stance, Savage Strike, Bone Breaker 3/3)
Smithing (Steel, Dwarven, Orcish, Ebony, & Daedric Smithing)
Sneak (Stealth 1/5, Backstab, Deadly Aim)

I still have 6 Perk Points to spend, but only Conjuration seems interesting. I think I'll hold on to them in case something gets added where I can use them in the DLC.

Every level up I have put points into either Health or Stamina, and I'm using the Steed Stone so my carry weight is 590 total.

I did it so I wouldn't have to carry something else, and the only other enchantment I considered there was lockpicking since I don't use magic.

Dear TWW:

I'd love to hear what kind of characters you guys are rocking and why you chose the gear and perks you chose and the success you've had.

You don't have to be as detailed as I was, but I'd love some ideas for another character.

Simply resorting to a pure mage seems like a waste of available talents. Maybe I should just be satisfied with my guy.

i started as a heavy armor/two handed weapons guy, with archery. scattershotting perks around like it was nobody's business.

but grew tired of moving around like a slug.

so, i went the light armor / mage route, and have had trouble catching up my destruction/conjuration points to where i am in two handed. (like, 45 to 80)

so what ends up happening is that i go around with killing everything i can with magic, then pull out the battle axes and finish the job. more often than i'd like to admit.

i've become much more cognizant of what i spend perks on too, as i've progressed. at lvl 32 now.

this is the first game ive ever played like this.

i started sneak archer and stayed sneak archer. maxed smithing, and enchanting. Sitll working on alchemy. i respecced from light armor to heavy armor cause light armor is pointless and got the heavy armor perk that makes it not slow you down.

i have a good amount of points in archery, but mostly the damage ones. i also have some in sneak.

i pretty much picked what i wanted off the start and stuck with it cause it works really well.

I went with a sneak/archery/conjurer. Smithing, heavy and light armor becomes pointless since I can usually kill everything in the game with a bound bow in like two shots. If the bow doesn't get them a summons surely will.

Maxing those attributes out kinda breaks the game though.

I went Conjuration, one-handed, and sneak to start.
I chose Light Armor because Heavy armor is pointless. You can supposedly BS-Enchant-Alchemy any set to gear to hit the armor max. That and the fact that like 80% of the Heavy Armor perks are worthless if you want to use the 2x sneak dmg with 1-hand gloves (light armor).

I then moved on to Enchanting and BS when things got tough, though that was only Dragons and only on Master level. My biggest problem turned out to be that I didn't level my Conjure as fast as my other skills. (Its very slow it you only do summon creatures. . . constantly conjuring swords to help boost it up fixed that issue).

lol

my daedric armor rating is like 370 or something with the matched set perk...only downside i see in heavy armor is it slows you down and takes up a bunch of your carrying capacity...but once you get the matched set perk its weightless, so i dont see how once anyone is far enough along in the game you'd want light armor...my daedric boots make me move silently with an enchantment

Neither armor class is really pointless, it's simply build-dependent. It all boils down to does stamina matter to you at all, and that determines your choice.

When you reach max level heavy and light armor are both pretty much the same anyway. Neither one of them slows you down or weighs anything, and both of them approach or exceed the max armor class (if you have smithing).

I started heavy armor/two-handed/magic, but found two handers very slow and the magic pretty weak. Then I went dual wielding weapons but had shit survivability because you can't block, so for a long time I went sword+shield. When my armor started getting pretty decent, I went full dual wielding. In the beginning I would use a spell+sword, but eventually stopped since the destruction spells are fairly weak and you run out of mana quickly. Started working on conjuration since summoning minions is pretty sweet, but there aren't a ton of creatures to utilize in that regard so it gets kind of boring...plus it levels incredibly slow. That's about the only magic branch I've stuck with, but nowadays I'm so powerful that I can kill any enemy before the conjured being lands its first hit.

I recently forged some new daedric swords, got high on pots and smithed/enchanted the fuck out of them. Both swords do fire damage, one does stamina absorption and one does health absorption.

Good god stamina absorption is awesome. Each hit refills 1/3 to 1/2 of the stamina bar. Power attacks all day long. The only irritating thing is that each hit also fills your screen with green.
