My boss gave me $250 to buy a new office chair. I am 6'3", so I need something with a high back. I have already been to BJs, Office Depot, and Office Max, but their tallest chairs end just below my shoulder blades. Any suggestions where I could look next?

^haha, my girl came in here and posted it. I was going to. I just got this one and put it together, it's fantastic, has a high back, and the head rest makes it so I can recline back against it after 2393 hours and still be comfortable and see my computer screen. It reclines and has recliner locks and is made from real leather and that taught mesh stuff (which is pretty comfy).

$199 at IKEA and totally worth it.

Hmm, I may drive down to Charlotte to take a look at IKEA. I'm guessing they have one already assembled in the store so I could try it out before bringing it all the way back to Raleigh?

Ikea sucks horsecock. Good luck finding something that wasn't built for someone 5'4" and 120.

Take some out of your own pocket splurge on an Aeron. It will be well worth it.

I have the $40 "moses" chair from Ikea in my home office. For a cheap chair, the materials are top notch, so I'm guessing the higher end Ikea chairs would be great.

For 250 you're definitely not going to get an Aeron or really anything from the better-known companies (I had a Steelcase chair at a previous position that I picked out and really liked, but it was like 500)

However, that being said, what you might want to do is go to an office furniture dealer that sells chair lines from some of the major manufacturers and then go sit in some nicer/more expensive ergonomic chairs, to get an idea of what you really like and what actually feels good as opposed to the so-so chair selection at most of the office depot type stores. Then, even if you can't convince your boss to spend more to get you a really nice chair, you can at least know what features and what general design fits you best, and pick a less expensive version that has similar features. Ikea might be a good option for that. When my co-workers and I went chair shopping we went to MacThrift office furniture on Capitol, which I wouldn't recommend buying from (way too expensive even for what they had, dunno why we bought there, state contract maybe?) but did have a nice selection to try out.

Thanks for the suggestion. If the chair is worth it, I'd pony up the money to cover the difference myself, especially since I sit in it every day.

^exactly. You can find Aeron's for ~400-500. When I was interviewing for full-time positions I sat at some cubes just to check out the chairs. The company I accepted with has bad chairs but I'll only be in the office 3-4/month.
