We did gain a hot red head....there was already a red head, just an annoying unattractive one.

So this is like Buffy the Vampire Slayer for british nerds, right? Isn't the doctor supposed to be an old, wise man, not some Twilight wannabe?

Well it just goes to show, sooner or later all the good science fiction will get raped for corporate profits and turned into some sort of sex-fueled teeny-bopper adventure. Star Wars, Star Trek, Dr. Who...all of you fanboys should be equally pissed off.

It's a shame too. I watched Dr. Who back in the 70's. It was cheaply-made television and was fantastic.

oh it's still the best scifi series going, the effects have gotten better since the 70s though.

Better effects? No way!

I'll give it my vote for Most Kickass Theme Song as well.

Anybody know if it's going to be on TW's BBC-America OnDemand channel?

Sure! In exactly 18 months.

[Edited on December 26, 2010 at 12:26 PM. Reason : But england is 18 months ahead of us, so America will be ready by then.]

TW On Demand typically puts new Dr Who episodes up 1-2 days after the American premiere. That's the way it has worked with all the other Dr Who specials last year (or was that 2 years ago?), so I don't see why this year would be any different.

I like Matt Smith

he makes the Doctor quirkier, less human

like the older Doctor Who incarnations

Just got to watch it on the DVR tonight. Was great then I noticed the commercial for the build your own TARDIS contest! Just gotta find somewhere "unique" around Raleigh for the photos.

I really dug the Christmas special.

I was surprised because the last episode of the 5th series was pretty poorly written imho (amelia had to remember the doctor to bring him back to life...but river song already remembered the doctor...so why wasn't that enough to bring him back to life?).

anyways, there were still few places in the Christmas special where i had to stretch my disbelief, but over all really great.

They explained that. Amy had lived next to the crack for a large amount of her childhood so she shared a special connection with it, so only she could bring someone back by remembering like that.
I find things like the sonic screwdriver repairing barbed wire much more outlandish (though less required for the plot I admit). But in the end its Dr. Who, so a lot of it doesn't have to be completely logical.
