The vehicle is a monster (it's been dubbed the "Battle Jeep" by my housemates, heh). Drives great on or off-road, and looks downright mean. With its big block V8 engine, full header kit, and Flowmaster free flow exhaust it sounds and performs great. A lot of work and upgrades have gone into it. Clean title in hand and it passed state inspection last month, has a recent oil change and tune-up. Starts instantly every time and is a great vehicle to drive in adverse conditions (like snow, heh)

1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited V8 5.2L 318

Mileage: 136,000

Standard Features:

  • 5.2L Magnum V8 318 Engine
  • Quadra-Trac All Time 4WD
  • All-Wheel ABS
  • Leather Interior (Black)
  • Cruise Control
  • All power seats, mirrors, locks, windows
  • Keyless entry
  • Heated mirrors and rear window
  • Automatic tint control on all mirrors
  • CD Stereo
  • Digital Heat and AC allows for setting to specific temperatures
  • On-Board computer readout
  • Power Sunroof

Upgrades:

  • Heavy-duty 4" lift kit
  • Rusty's Off-Road Trac Bar, Tie Rod, and Steering Stabilizer
  • Flat Black 15x10" 5x5.5 Wheels
  • Toyo A/T Open Country 33"x12.50 R15 Tires (Plenty of Tread)
  • Custom Reverse Cowl Hood Air Intake
  • Custom air filter (fits into hood cowl obviously)
  • Full Header Kit
  • Flowmaster Free-flow Exhaust
  • Steel-reinforced serpentine belt
  • Navigator Halogens (not wired yet)
  • Entire exterior bedlined (flat black)

Full Disclosure (a couple minor issues):

The wheels rub just a tad if you cut them ALL the way. A little bit of work with a grinder would fix this, but its never bothered me.
The heated leather front seats do not work. I'm told this is common and not hard to fix (likely a fuse).
There's a crack in the rear bumper (pretty minor)
On occasion at an idle the oil pressure gauge will ping. Its a bad sensor and a new one is included, just haven't put it in.

Asking $4,000

136k on a 15yo car is some serious age. How soon before this will need an overhaul do you think?

It was used only lightly as a commuter vehicle before the work to turn it into a 4-wheel monster, at which point pretty much everything in the engine compartment was gone over and swapped with quality performance parts (fluids, belt, plugs, wires, filters, seals, etc etc). I believe the transmission was serviced (new fluid/filter) at the time too. I'm not kidding when I say it runs perfectly, doesn't burn or leak a drop of anything, shifts nice and smoothly. I can't imagine it would need any kind of major work in the near future.

I'm not going to give it away. Not under any particular stress to sell it, but I'd like to have the cash to really focus on my truck. Worst case I'll consign it with a friend who runs a car lot (and is convinced he he can more than I'm asking). But I'd rather it go to someone who'll really enjoy it, heh.

Couple things I didn't mention:

It has heavy duty power wires (we're talking quarter inch thick) run straight from the battery area to behind the back seats for an amp/speakers/etc (it previously had a 4x12" cabinet back there) along with R/L monster cable RCA (and one remote on wire) run to behind the stereo. All the cabling is properly routed and not visible. Aside from an amp it would be also useful for mounting a big inverter/etc in a box in back for camping.

The plastic factory front bumper, roof rack, and frame mount bolt-on towing kit are included (obviously you'd need a 4" drop receiver to use the tow kit, heh).

Look at #4 on this list, heh.

Just sold it on Craigslist for $3,800, I worked with him a tad since he had to drive down from northern VA to grab it. Thanks for the interest guys.
