I remember seeing it in Outsourced... anyone played this before? I'd like to try it sometime, but I don't know anyone that has it or has played it, so I might end up buying it. It is kind of like a cross b/w pool and shufflepuck. Looks pretty fun!

I grew up playing this. It's pretty fun, but gets old after a while.

there are a few bars with shuffleboard tables that no one ever uses

why would a bar have a shitty game when no one plays a good one

only bar i've been to that has shuffleboard still is Isaac hunters, and those are always being played (never seen them empty after 10 oclock). Hi5 used to have it, but I don't know if they do anymore.

and yes, I watch sitcoms on NBC- what bearing that has on Carrom, I don't know, but it is true.

there are plenty of excellent NBC sitcoms (30 rock, community, parks & rec)

outsourced is not one of them

it started out weak, but got better as it went on

I get some people don't like it, but it is a simple show and we enjoyed it

but like I said, this thread isn't about outsourced, it is about Carrom- SO BACK TO THE TOPIC AT HAND!

Anyone got a board?

From Sepinwall's worst of 2010 list:
Quote :
"There are objectively worse shows on this list, but "Outsourced" was perhaps the most disappointing. After NBC had finally come up with a Thursday comedy lineup where all the shows were either great or at least capable of occasional greatness, in came this cheap, hacky sitcom that wouldn't have felt out of place airing after "Friends" or "Seinfeld" in the late '90s, and one that leaned so heavily on Indian stereotypes that it almost singlehandedly undermined the great progress the network had made in casting South Asian actors in well-rounded roles elsewhere on the schedule. The sad thing is, many of the actors on this show are likable and seem capable of being funny, but they're hampered by an insufferable main character and lazy writing. Some readers insisted the show got significantly better after the pilot, but of the two later episodes I saw, one was hovering just under mediocre and the other was entirely about the main character getting diarrhea from eating Indian street food. Yay!"

did you like it because you truly enjoy stock characters and flat, uninspired jokes

or because you don't understand the metafiction of community

k, you made your point- you don't like the show, and upon your high horse, everyone else that can enjoy a simple mindless show must be beneath you and not capable of "understanding" other shows (which in my mind are not much deeper)

with that, my opinion has been made, as has yours. And yet, still no real talk of Carrom

ANYONE GOT A BOARD?

[Edited on January 1, 2011 at 9:40 PM. Reason : we get it- your awesome as hell and too good for these shows]

a nod to the glengarry speech coded into a reference to a line of dialogue earlier in the season isn't deeper than indian stereotypes that would make dat phan's uncle blush?

okay.

I think the fact that they did TWO episodes centered around Indian food giving the main character diarrhea is damning enough.

(fwiw Community is our favorite out of the thursday lineup, and outsourced is our least, but just because it is at the bottom of that list doesn't mean we can't enjoy it)

Back to the real topic of the thread, Outsourced sucks obviously, but I never understood why so many people liked Community, either. I get its self-referential "meta-humor," but I just don't think it's that funny. But, I know a lot of people do, so I guess it's subjective.

Parks and Recreation rules, though. THAT show has gotten funnier as it has progressed, IMO.

Ranking NBC's Thursday night sitcoms:
1) Community
2) Parks and Rec
3) 30 Rock
4) The Office

Although 30 Rock season 3 was better than Parks and Rec season 1, so switch those for 2009.
