I need a capacitor for a ceiling fan, but cant find anywhere reputable to actually buy one!
I need a 5 wire, 4.5uf/6uf/5uf capacitor. Believe it's 280v...i'll check on that though.
Anywhere around sell these? Would prefer to pick up in person, but dont mind online ordering. 1/9/2011 9:24:15 PM |

That sounds like a run capacitor; different capacitance than a start capacitor. Try W. W. Grainger.
Most appliance parts stores should have this as well. A lot of window unit air conditioners use them on their motors.
3 values are most likely because it's a multispeed motor, which usually has separate windings for each speed. 1/10/2011 12:56:16 AM |

Yeah, the fan only works on the High setting. When you pull the chain for Medium/low, it still runs in high.
The capacitor is slightly bulged as well, so it's definitely bad.
Looks pretty much like this.
