Anyone have any experience with anyone that does NI systems integrations?
I'm looking for someone to setup a system for my company to monitor a couple of center-less grinding machines. I only have limited experience with LabView so I'd like someone to do the coding and then turn it over to us.

We have a guy starting with us in a few weeks that just stopped doing this type of work (I think he was looking for a more regular paycheck) so if you're still looking then I could ask him if he knows some people he'd recommend.

I'm just curious, what type of monitoring are you doing? Are the sensors already in place or will you have to add those plus the NI hardware to do what you need?

We are looking to monitor the diameter spread. The machines already have a solartron half bridge sensor in place that is used by the machine control system -- want the ni hardware to to datalog and display on a small panel.

We don't have the hardware yet - probably would look for a recommendation.

If he knows a good source I'd appreciate it.

So how does it work, you have an LVDT (multiples of these I suppose) touching the machined part and the solartron translates the LVDT output which you'd then convert in NI to mm (inches, whatever) and display on your window?

[Edited on January 27, 2011 at 7:51 PM. Reason : or perhaps you'd just use a linear encoder?]

Sort of, but its not a lvdt setup. It's just a half-bridge and it's translated to a distance based on the voltage from null. Probably want to incorporate some other stats from the machine like dresser position (a diamond that moves across the wheel to maintain size) feed speed and calculate OEE. I have an engineer from NI coming sometime to get some ideas, but they don't do development.
