So long story short, I need new tubes. Thes one in my marshall dsl100 head are the standard EL34 and ecc83 tubes. So far, i've been recommended to get winged c el34's and Ruby ECC83 (12AX7A). I need 4 of each.
With that said, I'm not as concerned about an amazing clean sound as I am to have a good crunch and lead...anywhere from GNR 80s stuff to metal/hardcore.
Give me your recommendations...please note i've never replaced my original tubes (too lazy ) 1/27/2011 8:18:59 PM |

Change your tastes and go for 6L6s.
Just kidding, but I love the clean tones from my 6L6s and don't need that extra gain that you apparently do. 1/27/2011 11:37:06 PM |

Winged C's are fine for EL-34 powers, but I like the Tung-Sol reissues because they have some Fender/6L6 charm to the cleans. I'd stay away from anything with the word Ruby on it. The Electro-Harmonix 12AX7s are really good in every amp I've used them in and are cheap. 1/28/2011 12:01:30 AM |

I've got a new pair of matched Ruby EL-34s I'm willing to let go for cheap. I bought the wrong ones a while back and the local store doesn't want to take them back. If you're interested I'm sure we can work something out. 1/28/2011 6:07:08 PM |

^^ I use a new Tung-Sol 6V6 in my SF Vibro Champ. Sounds great, and I like it more than the NOS RCA that was in there before. 1/29/2011 10:52:26 PM |
