As long as I can read them in Internet form or they are accompanied by cute illustrations, I am willing to concur with your original proposition

i thought the sparknotes on a tale of two cities was interesting enough for a required read.

My book recommendation was serious btw. It's actually an extremely good book. Available online, definitely free if you know where to look.

i'd prefer fiction i think. i've listened to like some steven hawking books that were interesting enough, and the essays/books that I read/spark noted for PS 361 or whatever it was were interesting enough, but I don't really feel like reading them. 1/27/2011 10:00:15 PM |

Fiction is a waste of your god damned time son. You have limited time to work with son. You must learn facts in that time. 1/27/2011 10:01:47 PM |

well if fiction i will recommend the Hunger Games, not any of the sequels though. it has (unfortunately?) turned into a bit of cliche now but it definitely caught my attention. 1/27/2011 10:03:47 PM |

You must have missed the post which clearly determined that fiction is entirely unacceptable. 1/27/2011 10:04:23 PM |

I love astronomy and astrophysics, but Hawking's books are very very in depth, dry, and hard to follow. Obviously, his most famous is "A Brief History of Time", but it's very hard to read unless you just love that stuff.
If you're into science/how do we know what we know?/how did we get here?/are we alone? stuff i recommend this book.
Excellent read.

A few other suggestions:
If you think you'd like fictional "classic style leterature" like the classics, a good book is "The Life of Pi". It's a 'modern classic' kind of. (And I hate most classics, but liked this book alot)
If you like sports, anything by John Feinstein (A Season on the Brink or A March to Madness, in particular)
or this is pretty good book about the traditions/history of Tobacco Road

^^^oh come on. you no want to read books??
^^so, Hunger Games: set in the future, in the shambles of what used the be the US, is a country in which a corrupt government uses its population's children in a yearly ritual, known as the Hunger Games, to remind the residents to remain in order. Districts (similar to states) must submit one boy and one girl to the Games. Only one child leaves alive. The book focusses on the story of one district, and the girl involved.

Life of Pi is good. Chuck Palahniuk- Choke, Haunted, Rant, and Survivor (4 diff. books) Chuck Klosterman The Kite Runner I've always been a fan of William Faulkner, a lot of people don't care for the way he writes though. 2/4/2011 1:27:14 AM |

If you want to read more SK, let me know . . . I have most everything he's ever written and can give you a rundown of which I liked and which ones not to waste your time with. /nerd snort
I also agree with ^'s list - Chuck P. is excellent (Choke is my favorite). If you like Sci-Fi try Alfred Bester's "Stars my Destination."2/4/2011 7:24:59 AM |
