I'm trying to get data off of a laptop hdd from a friend's busted laptop. Anyone have a laptop hdd adapter so that I can connect it to the ide/sata port on my desktop motherboard? I just need to borrow it for a little while...

i think theyre like $5 bucks at intrex...in case nobody has one for you
you might want to say if it's SATA or IDE, some people probably still have IDEs which don't do SATA 2/2/2011 1:05:46 PM |

its probably SATA unless the laptop is stupid old.
i checked intrex's site and they're actually $10, instead of $5.
I'd invest in a SATA dock if you do this kind of thing with any regularity, those things are awesome. I use mine at home all the time. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153066&cm_re=dock-_-17-153-066-_-Product] 2/2/2011 5:03:55 PM |

I have both 2.5 in (laptop) SATA and IDE enclosures.
You can pick one up for cheap about anywhere. And why connect it to your motherboard? Why not a USB enclosure.
Or bring it to me, along with something to transfer to.
