Could I hook up a high dollar video camera (Handycam HVR-HD1000U) to a computer and use it to stream a Ustream video? What cables or equipment would I need?


Input and Output Connectors
Component Video: RCAx3 (x1 Output)
Composite Video: RCAx1 (x1 Output)
S-Video: 4-Pin mini-DIN (x1 Output)
HDV/DV Input/Output: i.LINK interface (IEEE 1394, 4-Pin Connector)
Audio L/R Output: RCAx2
Audio Input: Stereo Mini-Jack
Headphone: Stereo Mini-Jack
LANC: Stereo Mini-Jack
USB: Type-B Connector

So i need a 4 pin firewire. That's cool.


but does it install as a webcam or is that output just for transfer?

Just get a 1080p webcam. USB is going to be a lot easier to deal with than FireWire. And cheaper.

Logitech and Microsoft both make awesome 1080p cameras for under 100 bucks

Not sure about Windows, but OS X apps generally can use firewire video as camera sources.

the device has a 4 pin firewire connection. you can use whatever a normal fw port on your comp. It may even come with the cable.
