We are getting married this summer on Sunday night and we need to find a house to rent that will sleep a majority of our wedding party(10) for under 2500. We need it to rent MONDAY to MONDAY or tue-tue, wed-wed, or similar. Any advice? I am finding that any place for mid-july ONLY rent Sunday to Sunday or Saturday to Saturday. Is there a specific beach that you are looking for? If you're interested in Atlantic Beach, I've done some research for that part of NC during that time period. Where are you getting married?
Not to burst your bubble but most of the rentals during peak season will rent either Sunday-Sunday or Saturday-Saturday. Vrbo.com is a good starting place... 2/7/2011 8:47:51 PM |

^ This has been my experience. It was impossible to find a place that did mid-week rentals. Some places might do it if you call and tell them what you're looking for. That's probably your best bet, though I don't think I'd advertise the fact that you're looking to house the wedding party. 2/7/2011 8:52:40 PM |

^Yeah, I considered this. I don't think I will mention that.
^^Carolina or Kure. And yeah, I am finding that out. 2/7/2011 8:54:35 PM |

You could probably manage it in the off season, but not the middle of the summer. 2/7/2011 8:59:16 PM |

^what he said.
your best bet is to find a place that's renting for really cheap and book for 2 straight weeks. 2/7/2011 10:08:46 PM |

Between Atlantic Beach and Emerald Isle you could definitely find someone that would do this.
But for mid-week rentals they'd probably charge you extra, even if you book ahead. 2/7/2011 10:14:35 PM |

Use their search feature. We rent casa atlantica (gigantic ass house right on the beach, not available for you I'm afraid) almost every year in the fall. That's one in your price range. Just use their search feature, pick what you want, and you'll have some options. I'd reserve it now, though. You can get some absolutely huge places for $3k. Just get everybody who goes to pay a little towards the house and get a fantastic mansion on the beach. I know it's your wedding, but if they were flying into Raleigh they'd be paying for a hotel room so I think it balances out. 2/7/2011 10:27:30 PM |

Why? As long as you're within your contracted occupancy what do they care if it's your wedding party? Century 21 didn't care when we mentioned it to them. They just cared that we weren't planning on having the wedding at the house
Anyway, we're renting a beach house for our wedding party on Topsail as a Thursday-Thursday rental. But we're doing it the 1st weekend of May which is the tail end of off-season. And even then it took some negotiations between the agent at Century 21 and the owners of the house. I think you're going to be hard-pressed to find any owner willing to do an off-week rental during the summer simply because it then interferes with their ability to rent it out the week before and the week after. When it's off-season chances are they're just happy anyone is willing to rent the house period lol.2/7/2011 10:50:07 PM |

^true, since for the most part the houses are privately owned. However, they would not turn down a potential renter because a wedding party is staying there, as long as you do not go over the capacity that is agreed on your contract. I could see owners not wanting their places rented to college students for spring break, but I don't any reason why they would care that a wedding party is staying there. Some of the houses Blue Water rents will allow you to have weddings at the house as long as its not a big one. 2/9/2011 7:34:11 AM |

Exactly. It's really no different from a group of regular friends renting a beach house together. As long as you are following the terms of the contract the owner of the house really shouldn't care. And if for some crazy reason they do care, I'm sure there's plenty of other similar houses to choose from.2/24/2011 4:09:56 PM |

Respectfully, you're both viewing the argument from the prospective of the short-term renter. Everyone's seen a house after a party. Some owners do not wish to have their homes rented to those types of non-family groups because they do tend to wear harder on the home and it's furnishings. Since security deposits don't cover normal wear & tear, the expense of making the house look great for the next incoming family falls to the owner.2/25/2011 1:07:08 PM |

Nobody is saying that a party would be thrown in the house though. If you were planning on having the wedding there, then yes, that is different and you should be renting an event property rather than tricking the rental agency. 2/25/2011 1:26:49 PM |
