Well... if we're designing a paring knife why not go for something sensible and go ahead and put the handle upside down. 9/10 of my uses of a paring knife involve the blade pointing at me.

You trying to say these lines aren't nice and flowing? I think its rather sharp. BTW the inside of the blade is curved in for peeling, the rest out for choppin'. The handle can be gripped either choked up in the index finger recess or just on the outer portion.

Handle reversed would be like the perfect throat knife. You're not supposed to cut toward yourself, generally.

I need more constructive criticism...

I mean do you guys really think the handle should be the other way? Look at how there is clearance for your hand and shit under the handle. You could put the blade flat down on the cutting board and still have clearance. Well, I can, maybe if you had real fat fingers there'd be a problem.

I think folks just wanna know they can count on you to attack them in an ultra sexy way with that blade.

why can't the handle work both ways?

i mean, yeah it's kinda whiny, but i would agree that you would never peel an apple 'potato peeler' style, which inherently forces you to cut towards your thumb (which I consider a part of myself)

My intent is to make it, or something similar (whatever we end up deciding on, backwards handle or whatnot)

I think the handle is probably fine this way though. I might mock it up and hold it for some pics for you guys.

The SS logo is my skate logo (slippery skates & sons):

No, not yet. Couldn't get the linkage geometry to work out for the trucks I wanted to use. I think a good starting point would be non-tilty blades. I have a lot of projects right now though...

Obviously I have influenced certain individuals by showing them real custom knives son.

dustm is one of the only people on here who understands the quality levels involved in a real knife son.

Yeah, that was fun son! We'll have a plane back up and running soon btw.

We cut out a pattern last night and tweaked the design. It is a highly ergonomic and functional shape, lots of cutting power and the ability to do extremely fine detail. We're going to be grinding it out of very thin (1/16") 1095 high carbon steel on a disc grinder initially. It wont be the best setup but it will work and the knife will be a razor blade for kitchen tasks.

After that we will likely upgrade our grinder and obtain thicker and better steel, likely 3/16" or 5/32". Not sure on the steel yet, but probably a stainless like 440C.

^ Nice, we were almost considering building a heavily modified Senior Telemaster. It would be a conventional gear setup (tailwheel son) with a clipped wing, enlarged control surfaces, overpowered, etc.

We may still do that but we'd have to piece it together by finding used shit. It could definitely be done. I have some of the necessary shit already and I'm sure we could scrap something together. I'd like to have a 1.50 Saito or a 1.20 Y.S. four stroke in there if we did it. We could make custom carbon fiber wheel pants and cowling too, unpainted raw carbon! It would be sick nasty son.

Also, here is the knife pattern, as well as a custom folding knife with a similar blade shape (It's the one on the bottom with the Lightning Strike Carbon Fiber).

I used to go out there as well..... Maybe not super often but I went out there on numerous occasions to fly R/C aircraft.

Anyway, I'm not completely fucking retarded, I understood that I don't know you and that you weren't talking to me. I was simply saying it was enjoyable to fly out there since you brought it up.
