Guess this makes any future Marvel ensemble movie pretty difficult. (he also played the human torch)

not really. the fantastic four films were 20th Century Fox flims. The Avenger world of films are from Marvel Studios themselves.

The Fantastic Four films were mindless popcorn munchers designed to be stand alone entities for mainly a teenage audience, thus the inclusion of Jessica Alba. They in no way are meant to be canon tie ins to any other franchise.

Let me introduce you to the confusing world of Marvel Flims framchises.

Marvel Studios (Internal):
Iron Man
Hulk
Thor
Capt. America
Avengers
Anyone else related to Avengers (and probably anyone else they haven't already sold)

Fox:
X-Men
Fantastic 4
Daredevil
Elektra
All other Mutant movies or Fantastic 4 spinoffs

Columbia:
Spider-Man
Ghost Rider

Lion's Gate:
Punisher
Kick-Ass

New Line:
Blade

Theoretically there could be a fantastic 4 and x-men team up, but not an x-men/spider-man, or punisher/avengers, etc.

At Comic-Con Marvel announced they had re-obtained the rights to the Punisher and yet another reboot is expected to be in the works.

I must confess that I've watched this new trailer about a dozen times back-to-back. I want so much for this movie to be good.

I had low expectations for Thor and it ended up really impressing me. I am excited for this one.

BTW, didn't Marvel Studios reclaim the X-Men franchise with First Class or was that also Fox?

I saw a screening of it last night. I thought it was on the same level as Thor but a buddy of mine said he found Thor to be much, much better. So I'm not sure what to make of it.

It was about what I was expecting, so not great and not bad.

my husband was playing it last night as he wants to see the new one today. I had to change it. I don't think I've ever seen anything that bad.

I watched half of the first Captain America, all of the second Captain America, and half of the the 90's version (then Futurama came on)

It's like they weren't even trying in the 70's versions. Also the thing that held his floppy shield onto his bike looked like a dick.

Enjoyed the movie, but not as much as Thor. Tommy Lee Jones stole the show in many places.

Really liked the in-joke about the off-Broadway Captain America show. Guess that dates me seeing how I remember when that idea was first attempting to get off of the ground. I've still got a couple of comics which have the ads for it.

Trailer for The Avengers looked incredible.

Enjoyed it but not as much as Thor or X-Men first Class. It was cool how Red Skull's guns made the same sound as Iron Man's repulsor beam when charging up.

I thought the costume looked kind of cheesy in the stills, but it looked good in real life.

I think it needs to be updated for The Avengers though. I don't remember whether they showed a picture of him in his costume during the trailer.

Enjoyed it a lot. I'd put Cap > Thor as far as the movies go, but I'd recommend watching Thor before Cap because of the interconnected plots. Also, it's definitely a stay through the credits kind of movie.

I liked it, but thought it was going to be better based on previews. I also think I've type-casted Chris Evans as a funny, sarcastic, dickhead from his previous movies that he didn't really work for me as Cap...but that's my fault, most people think he did a great job.

Also, did you guys see a different Avengers preview than I did after the credits? I didn't feel they showed nearly enough for me to get any kind of read that would change what I already thought the movie would be like.

I thought it was pretty cool, a bit melodramatic at times, but I enjoyed it. Cap is not a Marvel character that I have too much familiarity with me; my main loves have been the X-men and Spider-Man.

SPOILER

Doesn't Bucky eventually become Cap for a while? Are they ignoring this? Also, if that's the case. How does Bucky survive the 70 years or so that Cap's on ice? ibt lmgtfy

SPOILER

I haven't seen the film yet, so i'm not sure how Bucky's end is handled. But in the comics he's found years later frozen in ice as well and revived by the soviets with amnesia and a bionic arm to boot. look up Winter Solider

I thought I had heard that this was supposed to have the feel of a large budget war movie, and so I went in anticipating Saving Private Ryan without the gore. I didn't expect a dark movie like The Dark Knight, but I also didn't expect a campy movie akin to Spider Man. I thought it ended up being decent, but not great.

Are people really expecting this out of a comic book movie?? I don't really understand how you can do that.

Captain America is right up near the Punisher in terms of comic book subjects that could exist in the real world. His power is pretty much being physically a bad ass and having an impenetrable shield.

Why couldn't this movie have been an actual World War II movie that had the camaraderie, sets and more realistic action, but without the gore? Every comic book movie doesn't have to be geared towards children under 12 and I think the genre is going to fizzle out if they keep making movies that way.

because that's not Captain America, that's random dude with a shield in World War II

there's a huge difference between our WW2 and Marvel's WW2
