I just saw this video of a reporter after the grammys who either really really screws up her lines, or (as the story I read suggested) had a stroke on the air and couldnt form complete sentences
its funny if its not a stroke, you decide
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPI4j5pTxqU
if someone can embed this it would be awesome
and I'm guessing that this is [old] at this point, I didnt do a search or even scan the first page of chit chat to see if it was or not, fuck it

Serene Branson
Serene is a two time Emmy nominee and the recipient of the Frank Shakespeare Award for Outstanding Achievement in Journalism.
As many of you know CBS2 reporter Serene Branson experienced some health-related problems last night during our post-Grammys newscast.
She was examined by paramedics on scene immediately after her broadcast. Her vital signs were normal. She was not hospitalized.
As a precautionary measure, a colleague gave her a ride home. And while Serene says she is feeling better today, she wants us to know she followed-up with a visit to the doctor for some medical tests.
Serene thanks everyone for their concern and good wishes and hopes to be back on the air very soon." |

It looked like a transient ischemic attack. I had one in my mid-20's and I sounded just like that. 2/15/2011 11:06:17 AM |

Punchmonk had this happen to her this morning (transient ischemic attack). She woke up and tried to talk to me and it all came out gibberish. I thought she was having a stroke and we've been at the hospital all morning. Scary stuff but fortunately it doesn't look like there's an permanent brain (or other) damage 3/5/2011 3:06:58 PM |

OH MY GOD WHAT THE HELL
glad to hear she is doing ok.
when that happened to my dad they thought it was a TIA, then a stroke, then it happened again. it technically was a stroke i think (but a special kind) and he almost died (twice) but he ended up having this GIANT CLOT in his brain that had been building since birth because he has an extra clotting gene in his blood. they said he had probably had mini strokes before but they were so minor we just didn't notice. cause if he forgot a word or whatever it wasn't unusual we were just like, omg old people. but when it happened the second time he was at duke (luckily) and they had all the special doctors and special imaging so they could see it. actually, the eye doctor could look into his eyes and see the optic nerve was super swollen.
but then the times it happened for real he was paralyzed and had all these seizures and lost his speech completely. luckily it came back (they said it might not). he still stumbles over words sometimes but if you don't know what happened you just think oh he was talking to fast or whatever. it isn't noticeable to outsiders only to me because i know what happened. he went to an aphasia group for a long time and had to do tons of speech therapy. scary scary stuff.
i am glad to hear she is doing ok (and baby too?!!).
brains. how do they work.
GET WELL SOON AMNA AND BABY

I'll take factor V leiden for 500 alex.
no, seriously, i saw this last week, it is apparently a "complex migraine" rather than a TIA
She had migraine with aura, specifically migraine with aphasic aura
[Edited on March 5, 2011 at 6:40 PM. Reason : .]
however if anyone experiences aphasia or slurred speech get thee to the hospital immediately to rule out a stroke or TIA
time is brain folks
