You could go my route.

I never saw TOS, but was familiar enough with Star Trek to know the premise of the show.

I would go TNG, because if you aren't familiar with the details of the show, it will get you up to speed and interested. It's very much a static show with little character development, but the characters and episodes are interesting.

DS9 was started while TNG was still in production (about a year of overlap), so at the time it gave Star Trek fans something to continue to watch. As such, if you have never seen TOS or especially TNG (there is a little overlap between TNG and DS9), you will probably be lost. With that said, the sees as a whole is better than TNG. There are story arcs, deeper character development. That said, it is important to watch the show in order, something that is not necessary in TNG.

VOY is much like TNG and TOS, except they don't have a near infinite supply of resources.

ENT is an interesting concept. I would save that show towards the end. As a whole, the series is weak. The first season is good. The second season sucks. The third and fourth are better. I think the fourth season is probably the best, but by that point, the viewers were lost.

SW, ds9, tng, BSG/babylon 5, voy, tos, enterprise, stargate, oBSG, tas


(stargate - individually had some bright spots but overall meh to me, even though i've seen a lot of them, just not my cup of tea ...)
(enterprise - honestly i didn't watch much of this really, didn't appeal to me really ...)
(firefly is a outlier as they didn't exist long enough to really get a solid feel for everything compared to the others)

TNG got me into star trek, but I felt like DS9 has much better story archs, seemed darker, and not overly idealistic. I liked SG at first but got bored quickly. Never watched Battle Star. The cast of Voyager except the hot borg chick sucked. Cpt Janeway needed some cock.

The first 4 are significantly above the last 3. I would probably feel different about TOS if I were 58 instead of 28, but let's put it this way: it hasn't "aged" well.
