My dad was asking ^me about this. Seems like a good deal. You get texting and stuff and for old man status like him I think it fits his needs well. Does anyone have any opinions on this?

Where you at? Lol

I've got a few friends with this deal and for some reason i everytime I talk to them its all muffled and what not. Also when they text me. their replys are always my original text repeated followed by a reply.

I looked up their wireless coverage today and it's pretty pitiful.

I guess if you don't travel a lot then it might be worth it, but you get what you pay for.

It runs off the old Nextel Network, coverage is horrible, texting is horrible (huge delay).

Sprint decided to stop investing in the iDEN network after they bought it so it will never get any better, unless he wants the direct connect/walkie talkie service there are better options for prepaid.

- Straight Talk (runs off Verizon)
- Page Plus (runs off Verizon)
- Virgin or Boost CDMA (runs off Sprint)
- Wal Mart Mobile (runs off T-mobile)

It's my father. He just wants a phone to call family members with and doesn't travel much at all. Sounds like it suits his needs. Thanks guys

+1 for page plus...check out slickdeals for some how-tos on getting a ton of features for something like $25/month

i'm not sure why boost didn't remain bankrupt...though now that they've stopped targeting the demographic that is notorious for not having any money and not paying their bills, they might stick around this time

Sweet page plus cones with a voice plan to? He would really like to just call. Texting would be a bonus. It would be funny to get texts for the First time from my 60y.o. Father

Boost has both iDEN and CDMA.

bullshit. very rarely do i have coverage issue with iden anymore unless i'm in the sticks and i mean away from wake county. my wife's sprint phone and mom's verizon phone both do not work at my house but my nextel works fine. my plan is $44/mo. (gov't acct. - plan is usually $50/mo) for unlimited everything.
