My clear coat is coming off my 2006 Frontier. I also have some dings here and there, so why not get it all fixed at once.
Anywhere, where should I go? I can take pics of the areas in question, but just imaging major peeling of clearcoat on a burgundy truck (go figure)
also my tailgate will probably need to be fixed up before painting, otherwise the clearcoat is just peeling on the truck bed sides not the cabin 2/18/2011 1:07:59 PM |

Mainly need to fix the peeling that has started and prevent the blisters that are ready to peel from peeling
Further, all the issues are really on the bed nothing on the cab section
Passenger side, truck body
The aftermarket bed skirts are not staying down, and have caused this damage (on both sides- I would like to install the OEM Nissans on the sides and on the tailgate)
Tailgate damage:
Blistering starting on the driver side truck box- like to get it fixed to prevent peeling
small dent on driver side door, not a big deal

tailgate pic complete
SO basically I want it fixed, but want a permanent fix, not a patch job. Plan on keeping this truck till it dies, its my only car right now, but when I buy another car, this will stay with me for weekend projects, moving, etc

thoughts?
My first thought was how fucking funny it was that someone with a 2006 Nissan Frontier is looking for the best painter in the area. What you need done should be within the realm of any paint/body place in town, it isnt like your truck is wrecked or anything. 2/22/2011 1:14:57 PM |

Please tell me that truck has been painted since it left the dealership. I've never seen a factory paint job pop off like that on a 5 year old vehicle and the orange peeling on that door looks terrible. 2/22/2011 1:38:50 PM |

I agree with Skack. If i bought that truck new, i would be in the dealership causing a shit storm. I have seen Maaco paint jobs that look better after 5 years. There is no excuse for a factory paint job to look that awful after 5 years unless you dumped some sort of chemicals all over your paint. 2/22/2011 1:44:37 PM |

I dont know when nissan started using weak ass eco-friendly paint but it was on my 2008 toyota and it started doing this after 8 months. 2/22/2011 8:11:51 PM |

It seems everyone has problems with water based paint, initially. My 97 Z3 has water based paint (did). I purchased it 3 years used, with 40k miles from the dealer. After 6 months, I started to see clear coat separation. I was super pissed. I worked way up in BMW Corporate, and they ended up paying for a new paintjob. 2/24/2011 3:33:02 PM |
