here's the lead-up:
my mom, my two sisters and my 3 year old niece are going to Marbles Kids Museum and the IMAX tomorrow around 1:30pm and we need a place to grab lunch
my niece isn't picky one of my sisters is a vegetarian my other sister and my mom are sticking with their New Years resolutions and going low carb I don't eat red meat or fried food, but I eat the hell out of chicken, turkey and shrimp
we need a place within walking distance, or a very short drive 2/18/2011 7:35:27 PM |

REMEDY
right across the street from imax/marbles
they have vegan/veg specials
it is just a sandwich-y place, with all day breakfast, too, and some other stuff, but you can get meat and they can get veg options. i guess bread has carbs though
the times...also a short walk from the imax/marbles. yummy salads and sandwiches (BEST veggie burger in raleigh, IMO). you can get the crispy chicken tacos. a shrimp burger. there is even a delicious turkey sandwich that tastes like thanksgiving on the menu
i dunno, these would be my choices because you can park in the parking deck (or street) by the imax and then walk to the eating destinations.
^ ugh you stole my thunder by a few seconds!

haha
no we are both just amazingly brilliant, duh
and i hang out at the imax kind of frequently
(closet nerd)
but hang out in that general downtown vicinity doing WAY COOLER things than going to the imax even more frequently

the food at Remedy was great
however....the hot dog, 2 sandwiches and 2 salads were delivered 37 minutes after we ordered
and the credit card came back like 10 minutes after the waitress took it.
I'll go back some other time, when I have more time
we were 20 minutes late to the IMAX show 2/19/2011 4:57:19 PM |

Had Remedy Wednesday night... the service wasn't slow then at all. They weren't that busy then either though, maybe they slow down that much when they are busy (and if they were busy for lunch today)
I would have been fine with slow service then too 2/19/2011 5:24:24 PM |

as a former waiter, I understand what it's like when you're running with only 3 servers and there's a full house
and frankly, I wouldn't have realized it was 37 minutes if I hadn't been reminded every five minutes
I'll definitely go back to get the Mediterranean sandwich again 2/19/2011 5:29:36 PM |

It's too late now but Buku and Busy Bee both have good brunches with options that match your criteria. Busy Bee is particularly kid-friendly with mac and cheese and tots. 2/20/2011 2:44:02 PM |
