What are all the cool kids using as their messenger of choice? Not enough people are on gchat and that is really all I have on my phone/at work.

I think I still have aim set up to be sent to my phone, and randomly I'll have someone message me on there, but it's been a long time.

I use skype a lot, and facebook chat.

Mostly facebook chat though.

i have one or two friends who I randomly talk to on AIM when I have my laptop out at home...which is rare these days. they are slowly moving to gchat, which is where I do most of my messaging these days. now I'll probably exclusively use gchat now that it links to my AIM account

I use AIM a lot still. My employer uses skype for intra-office communication so I have started using that a lot as well.

See, I think I know a lot of people who use it at work. I just created a new name on it just to filter out the filth I don't want to talk to anymore.

When I had to share a conference room as a makeshift office with two other guys, we used Google Talk to talk shit about one another

facebook chat via AIM, and a small and still dwindling number of people through AIM. I think only one of them is actually using an AIM client, the others are on iChat or Trillian - but still using the handle so it counts.

i use aim & gchat through pidgin everyday. we talk in the office using aim more than out loud a lot of times lol.

i know the nc forest services uses aim to talk between district, regional, & central operations rooms.

i haven't used aim in about 6 or 7 years, but i logged in not that long ago just to take a peak.

i realized that i couldn't recall the real names of half the people on my buddy list, but the list also reminded me of people I had forgotten about.

[Edited on February 21, 2011 at 10:33 AM. Reason : ^ facebook status updates are the new away messages, except people don't get away anymore]

Haven't signed on to AIM in yrs, did a couple months ago on my phone and my dad messaged me.

I use fb chat more than anything because sadly not enough people I know are aware of gchat.

yeah, away messages in AIM was the original status update to see who was doing what. Oh good ole days. I haven't logged in my AIM account in a year. Moved onto skype, but hardly use facebook for chat anymore since I got rid of it.

I just use a chat aggregator (in my case Adium, but Pidgin would be the same idea) and sign in to AIM, gchat, webexIM, facebook chat, and yahoo messenger.

If someone IMs me, I have no idea which service they're using to talk to me unless i feel like checking.

at work i use a device on my desk that allows you to speak to another person by connecting directly to a similar device on their desk. the only problem is you have to know a special code to their device, (much like a screen name, but with numbers assigned by the company instead). its fairly archaic, but gets the job done.

i can't remember the last time i logged into aim. i generally just use facebook now, but i'm sure its been a year or more since i facebook chatted. i set up video gchat a while back, but that works way to well for my likings. i need be able to at least pretend i'm busy sometimes.
