http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Picric_acid

Quote :
"Anhydrous phenol is sulfonated with fuming sulfuric acid, and the resulting p-phenolsulfonic acid is then nitrated with concentrated nitric acid. During this reaction, nitro groups are introduced, and the sulfonic acid group is displaced. The reaction is highly exothermic, and careful temperature control is required."

He should have watched Breaking Bad and learned that chemical companies don't just hand out chemicals to any Joe Schmoe while he was at it.

^^that's just the synthesis of it. the article mentions two other chemicals were used to make the bomb along with the TNP.

I did think this was funny, and probably would've blown this fucktard up on his way to the drop site.

Quote :
"However, shells filled with picric acid become highly unstable as the compound corrodes bomb casings to form metal picrates which are more sensitive than the parent phenol. The sensitivity of picric acid was demonstrated in the Halifax Explosion."

TNP is the explosive compound. The three synthesis ingredients are listed in the post.

^^If he's attending a school in Lubbock and [infering] couldn't meet the admission requirements at Texas Tech [/infering] , then I doubt he would have learned much from Breaking Bad.

Terrorists are really not smart, though they are quite brave, albeit stupid. This is proof. Why would he write anything down about his terrorist mind, and then order stuff from a taxing company openly, and not try to buy from the black market? He deserves and extra 20 years on top of what ever he is sentenced to just for being stupid.

My girlfriend is really good friends with the head of HR at Carolina Biological.

I tried to get a sales job there a couple years ago, but I didn't have the experience they were looking for. It's a great company
