I just moved back to Raleigh after a 4 year sabbatical into Southwest Virginia. Now that I am back in town I would like to go to a few more football and basketball games each year. In the past I've just bought tickets from friends or scalpers.

I started looking into the Wolfpack club to see if it would make sense to join, but I can't gather any benefits that I would get until I was ready to buy season tickets, which I don't really see as being likely until I have kids old enough to go (6-8 years).

Does going through the wolfpack club make harder tickets easier to acquire? If I plan on having season tickets in the future should I join now to start building priority?

Wolfpack club members get first in line for season and bowl tickets based on your priority. Part of your priority is years in the club. So if you were thinking of getting tickets in the future it may make sense.

[Edited on March 2, 2011 at 1:54 PM. Reason : Or you could wait and just give a couple hundred grand and get priority that way.]

With the current state of both programs, unless you're one of those guys that likes to have the same seat at every game and form a bond with the people around you, it will be infinitely easier and cheaper to continue scalping. You'll get equal or better seats than you'd get with season tickets, plus you'll see the game from a variety of angles so that if you do eventually decide to get season tickets, you'll be able to pick a location you're comfortable with. Also, if a game arises that you can't make or don't care to attend, you'll save money over having to eat the tickets or unload them at half cost.

Believe me...I ponder getting Bobcats tickets every year, and I'm always glad that I don't because I can pick and choose my games and still pay under face, and not feel like I have to go see Toronto on a rainy January night just because I already bought the seats.

I mostly agree with SF... it will take you awhile to build up priority with the minimum WPC donation every year (~$160?). Donating WILL give you a higher ranking than starting fresh the year you decide to get season tickets though (regular non-LTR season tickets are assigned based on WPC ranking afaik). As a member you WILL get offers to buy tickets (season, mini packs, individual games, bowl tickets, ACCT tix) before they are publicly available in many cases.

I thought it was pretty funny that I got this e-mail TODAY, 3/2.

"We have Wolfpack Club members who are nine and members who are ninety, from every background and every walk of life, but together, we're one family.

For the last 75 years, we've been supporting NC State, and we plan to build on that foundation as we move forward. Click here to watch and see why it means so much to have you involved. Go Pack!

Don't forget that March 1st is the rank cut off date for donations to count towards 2011 FOOTBALL PRIORITY! Please use the online option at the end of the video to join the Wolfpack Club now!"

I occasionally like to use words without being fully aware of definitions. I'm tenured like that.

Yeah, I definitely don't plan on purchasing season tickets anytime soon. I don't think it will be worth it at all until I have a permanent and reliable game day group, think i'll go to most games, and stop drinking (much) before games. None of which I think will happen before family time.

Aha, that is the email that reminded me to check them back out. I too noticed the prompt timing of the "Wolfpack Club Executive Director"

^this.

I am cancelling my WPC membership this year because it is simply throwing money down the drain to pay full price to see NC State play powerhouses such as Liberty, South Alabama, and Central Michigan.

I would much rather take that money and use it to travel to UVA and FSU.

tickets are so cheap that its hard to find real value in WPC, although I've been in it for a while now to build priority.

If you want to get anything close to decent season tickets seats, you're going to need to buy lifetime rights. They start at $2k and go up to like $10k +. You only have to pay 1/10 of the amount each year, though, until they are paid off, plus dues for being in the wolfpack club. You can spread those payments down further into 12 month installments every year. And then you have to buy the season tickets that go with them every year or you lose the lifetime rights. I got LTRs between the 5 and 10 on the bottom level on the fourth row for $4k. Visit the wolfpack club office on Trinity road to pick see about picking out seats and joining payment plans.

Were you in Grundy or something? If you were at VT, you weren't in real SW Va and my wife will insist that's the case.

If you care about priority, you probably shouldn't cancel since a big part of it is consecutive years of membership. If you want to save money, just don't buy the tickets.

Ok, I think I'll go ahead and get the lowest level membership just to start building priority. Do I need to get a membership for my wife also or will she be covered by mine?

^^ I lived in Blacksburg for 2 years and Roanoke for 2 years. Blacksburg was an awesome little town and Roanoke kinda sucked. Definitely not the hill people part of SW VA though!

I'll say it again:

You're never going to get season tickets outside the endzone without buying lifetime rights

You're better off scalping tickets if you want decent seats.

^^ That is not true. I have bought season tickets off folks on packpride both of the last two seasons. Each time I was on the Vaughn Tower side around the 15-30 yd lower level area.

^^^Not true. I have been donating to the wolfpack club for 5 years now ($150/year) and been buying 2 football season tickets during that time. My seats have been getting progressively better each year (started out in the temporary bleachers). Last year I was on the 20 yard line (Jumbotron endzone Vaughn tower side). Yes you start out in shitty seats but it doesn't take long to get out of the end zone in my experience. You won't have premuim seats but they aren't bad. Also, to save on costs I split the season tickets with a co-worker.

You can definitely get lucky with regular season ticket assignments... especially if your ranking is a bit higher....to me the advantage of LTR seats comes in when the Pack is good for an extended number of years and more people buy LTRs... They'll sell all of those sideline seats to LTR owners if they can...

that's if the Pack is good for several years though...

True. I just didn't want to have to deal with having to buy tickets every year or I would lose all the money I put down for LTRs. Like for this coming year my wife and I have to decide if we can still get football tickets because we will be welcoming our first child and don't know how many "free" Saturdays we will have.

No, once you are a wolfpack club member, you can pick from any LTR seats that aren't currently sold.

There's no way. I looked at the board on Friday when I picked out my LTR seats and there was a peg showing every lower level seat from the 50 to the 20 on both sides of the field were sold to LTR owners. How do you manage to get tickets in those areas? also, the map showing general season ticket sales only have that area under the scoreboard highlighted in the corresponding color...

most inaccurate statement evar.

I have had season tickets the past 2 years (graduated in 2008) and have been in Section 30, below the Vaughn Towers, about 35-40yd line

According to this link:
http://www.gopack.com/auto_pdf/p_hotos/s_chools/ncst/sports/m-footbl/auto_pdf/2011FootballTicketInfo

AstralEngine is correct in that you pretty much HAVE to have LTR to get tickets worth sitting in. If that's true, it wouldn't really make much sense to worry about priority.

Your ranking is based on how much money you give, so being in the WPC for many years really doesn't mean anything. I know some people give an extra $10 just because most of us give the minimum $300 needed to have lifetime seats. I don't know how much it helps with parking though. While longevity along with buying season football tickets and basketball tickets is used as a tie breaker, it is the amount of money given that determines your ranking. For example

Person A has been in the WPC for 30 years and given $300 every year.

Person B just joined the WPC and donated $600.

In this situation Person B has the higher ranking.

^ not sure that's completely true anymore...I believe its based on total giving + other loyalty factors

when I log into my account I see this:

Priority Point Rank:
Priority Points:

When I click my link to see how my "Priority Points" are broken down, these are the factors:

Cumulative Giving
2009 Loyalty Points
Consecutive Years
Annual Scholarship Pledge
Men's Basketball Season Tickets
Football Season Tickets
2010 Incentive Points
Total Points

Granted, you get points for buying tickets... and you have to donate money to do so. I don't believe you can donate X dollars (without buying tickets) and necessarily be ahead of someone who is donating less, but purchasing tickets & cashing in on incentive donation periods, etc.

You can get season tickets for $325

You can join the WPC in the "young alumni" program for something like $180 vs the typical $300.

If you get LTR seats to ensure you're not in the endzone, they start at $2000 over 10 years and go up to like 20,000 over ten years. Go the the WPC office and pick some out. You still have to buy season tickets to the LTR seats.

So it costs $180 + (.1*LTR_cost)*no_of_seats + $325*no_of_seats but you can split all but the ticket costs up into monthly payments (it'd be 9 monthly payments this year since we're already into it, and 12 ever year after that). the ticket costs can be made in two installments, payable a couple months apart.

Not at all. Where do you get this? You get points for consecutive years giving, which would give this person a shitload of points.

And yes there are plenty of people that don't have LTRs and still have good sideline seats. Those charts are very deceiving for a lack of a better term in order to get people to go with LTRs.

easiest way to settle the sideline seating argument is to just go to the WPC office and take a look at the full stadium diagram with each individual seat. Every seat with a Red pin has supposedly been purchased under LTR. Whatever's left is a seat you could potentially get by luck-of-the-draw regular season ticket purchase (based on ranking or "priority points").

as a new donor your odds would be higher to end up in the 319-325 area (although I believe they recently updated some of the section assignments with more students)

Want good seats? Be a student manager for any sport.

That gets you in the Varsity Club.

That means you just pay $90 a year for Wolfpack Club and then can buy up to 4 priority season tickets and get 1 parking pass for free.

This will be my 3rd year of season football tickets (5th in WC) and we're on the 3rd row with 4 aisle seats.

Plead to the Student Wolfpack Club.

PLEASE do not send the goofball with a mic onto the court before the game tomorrow to practice cheers. It is INCREDIBLY LAME, AWKWARD, AND EMBARRASSING.

The guy with the mic for basketball has nothing to do with the SWPC. He was either asked by athletics or marketing to go over the cheer sheets. The bad part about doing it for bball is that we already have cheer sheets and when they use the mic at RBC Center the entire crowd hears it as oppose to football where it's just the student section because of the separate system.

If there is a more up to date topic please point me in that direction.

But the nickel and dime shit is getting old.

The whole thing has gone downhill in recent years.
I'm glad basketball deposits were already due before March last year.
(But I'm sure they will more than make up for it this year)

Because of the parking increase (we have 3 spots) and all the bullshit, we will not be renewing our 7 seats for football for the first time in 27 years.

It's all bullshit, but this "zone donation" to get better parking is just a big fuck you to everyone.

They ended LTR, which was bullishit all by itself. They will probably get tired of waiting for existing LTR to die off and try to screw us over eventually,
