With a mohawk like that, how can you not be a threat at that age?

that kid's a beast. he's got a nasty head and arm that's his bread and butter but some of his technical stuff is better than I ever could do after 6 years of wrestling for high school and ncsu. the peterson he hit on that kid and then the single outside leg from on-top into a figure four was SICK. he might challenge kael sanders' record.

This kid's wrestling skills are seriously legit. He is fundamentally sound in both his offensive technique and defensive sprawling and counters. His single leg takedowns are some of the smoothest I've ever seen out of a wrestler of any age.

Aside from his superior skills, he has the right aggressive attitude of a #winning wrestler that I definitely lacked at a young stage. Some people might take that as being a douchebag, but that mindset definitely contributes to being successful in scholastic wrestling.

The only thing I question is the skill level of his competitors.

Am I the only one that's a little disturbed that they let kids wrestle competitively at such a young age?

It's not a big deal when everyone's skill level is evenly matched.

Unless some freak of nature like this kid comes along. He probably traumatized many of his competitors.

Yeah I was a little put off when he slammed the other kid's head into the ground.

how you gonna wrestle not competitively? the entire point is to assert your will over someone else and slam em flat.

IMO this happens a lot more frequently in younger ages when kids go through huge growth spurts and developments over night and end up towering over all of their peers. Although this kid seems to be the same size as everyone, just has a lot more skill.

Sound like I'm being a pussy about it, but with something as competitive and individualized (is that a word?) as wrestling...I just think its a little risky to have kids competing in it at such an early age. It's alright if your team gets wrecked in a little league baseball/soccer/basketball/football game because the blame isn't solely on you, but spread out to the rest of your team. But it's got to be kind of tough on a kid when he gets destroyed on a wresting mat in front of everyone. Seems a little dangerous as well.

Oh well...

There is another video of him on youtube where they show the ends of his matches where all his competitors are crying when they shake hands.

it's only a problem if your kid is a pussy, which is a direct reflection on his parents both passing on being a pussy then trying to live vicariously through the kid, hoping he'll somehow not be a pussy, and entering him into a sport where you have to be a man and assert yourself. nevermind the kid is unprepared to do such. this kinda parenting is for ymca sports leagues, not competitive ones.

if a kid gets his ass beat, you tell him tears are unacceptable and either cut the suck or find something else to do. i picked up wrestling in high school and college but did taekwondo tournament fighting from the same age (5 or 6). i had the benefit of going 3 full years before I ever lost but when I did, and jesus christ i did (devastating knockout), there were no tears and sulking was unacceptable. nobody liked the kids that cried when you beat on em and it was a direct reflection on their parents.

That's why they have weight classes in wrestling. You're not the first person to thing of this.

This kid isn't just the same size...he's actually much smaller than a lot of the opponents I've seen in the videos.

It's impressive. Of course, it gets more impressive if he gets larger and his skills develop at the same pace. Some kids get big and can't even put food in their mouths without spilling all over the place...let's see if he's clumsy or what.

I'm surprised they don't make them wear head gear. Lil' dude is gonna have cauliflower ear by the time he's 12

Oh, and he has a mean Switch. I wrestled for 6 years, plus some BJJ afterwards, and I doubt I could teach that kid a single move.
