BHS yes I was sad to see it close for renovations (though yes it needed it). I just think the city sucks at how they are running the renovation as they are acting like they really dont care about the place.

That sucks. It was closed all last season as well, and considering they didn't even start up until last October closing it last season was just a waste.

Oh well, maybe it will be fixed in time for summer 2012, not really holding my breath for their fall completion time line. Glad my kid got a chance to ride the train (like I did when I was a kid) before they shut things down and before he got too old to want to do something like that.

it looks like you won't be able to enter the park over the train tunnel hill like you used to be able to (at least it appeared that way from what I read)... I used to LOVE entering the park via that route as a kid. i guess they had to "make things better"

i bet they won't have giant concrete cheese structures to play in either (those could have been long gone anyway before the construction for all i know.)

OH... and it looks like that picnic shelter that was on the island in the lake is gone... and most of the trees on the island are gone too

The concrete cheese thing was replaced by a slide a long time ago. And how exactly does cutting down trees make a park better?

^You old enough to remember when they actually had water in the fountains surrounding the main entrance? As a kid I'd always hop the fence and cut through the bushes to the left and come out in the small area near the train tunnel. It was a "secret" tunnel that all the kids used. As far as I know they haven't had water in the entrance fountains for a very long time.

yeah, i figured.

I started going to pullen park back in 1980 when i was a baby and up through high school with some of my younger cousins on occasion. I haven't been there much in the past 10 years, except for the pool and some of the picnic areas.
