I have three questions

1)Why the hell was the first episode 4 Food Network Star cast-offs; why was Aarti, the damn winner not on the show?
2)Why in the hell is Madison Cowan (winner of champions series) not on Chopped Allstars? I was really excited to see him compete
3)LOL why is old fussy britches Alex G. Not competing?? Though her comment on "This is just a cheese sandwich and a carrot" was pretty funny...while fighting to the death for that girl that made a damn deviled egg to stay

Anyways who are you rooting for?? Im all in for Freitag

honestly, i really wanted alex to be competing so someone else could be an enormous bitch to her, because she deserves it.

Yeah...that first episode sucked as far as the contestants go. And that girl royally fucked up in the first round...but I wanted her to make it because she's about the hottest girl they've ever had compete.

And Alex G is slowly becoming a fat ass.

I'm going for Aaron Sanchez or Robert Irvine. I think Irvine will have the easiest job of making meals fast (his dinner impossible show is crazy), but he'll have to add some creativity to win it overall. I wish Chris Santos was in it...he's easily my favorite Chopped Judge.

1)My wife and I were extremely pissed when all the marketing for the shows was "see all these food network personalities get chopped" and then the first show was the damned losers from their stupid show. Food Network sucks more and more by the minute.
2)Did anyone else think that that was some rigged shit? The bald guy cooked way better than Madison in that battle and was more innovative. I was highly surprised at how shitty Madison's dishes came out. But they had his daughter there for their tear-filled epic finale. What a god damned coincidence.
3)All that's drummed up fake drama to make it look like they aren't just saying "well, she missed 3 out of 4 ingredients and the one ingredient she did use was a sprinkle on a damned deviled egg. This is a no-brainer."

Robert Irvine probably has the best shot. I think some "chefs" like Claire Robinson and Duff are going to be exposed. (But probably not, given how I don't feel like it's an actual competition any more).

Duh. They do that for every Chopped episode. I don't have a problem with that. They have to at least try and keep you guessing at who they're going to chop and keep the drama up.

I actually agree with you on this one. I think they thought Madison would be a shoe-in to win because he killed it in all of his prior competitions. I was surprised to see him struggle in that finale and actually thought he could have been chopped in the first round (I was surprised to see the football player go) as well as the last round. I won't say that the bald guy was clearly better than him...but I was definitely surprised by the result. Adding the daughter into the mix definitely made it look more rigged.

That being said...I still love Chopped.

I'd love to see Chris Santos and fucking Scott Conant give it a shot myself. I'm not sure any judge would be willing to talk shit about either of em though.

^^Don't get me wrong, it's probably the most tolerable show on the Food Network and I'm still psyched to see some of their chefs actually go through it. I'm especially impressed to see some of the Chopped Judges do it.

Don't get me wrong...I don't mind the Lisa Loeb look...but I think she looked better without those glasses.

Those glasses and haircut brought her hotness down a level. Bad look for her. Although when you looked and saw that fat, short asian beside her, then look back, she looked really hot again.

Last night's episode easily had the best cooking that show has ever had. I'll admit to not knowing that Anne Burrell was such a bad-ass cook. Irvine was my pick to win it all...and he definitely didn't disappoint. He just had a few technical errors with not having the ingredients be the main focus on the desert. Duff was pissed he didn't make it past the first round...but unfortunately he was just going up against amazing chefs.

Claire Robinson is also very cute. Not having any restaurant experience definitely hurt her on this one.

Someone is going to have to be pretty impressive to take down Anne in the finals.

I thought Irvine had it, but it really could have gone either way.

Robinson surprised me with her talent, Duff did not.

I, too, wanted Irvine to win last night. Anne got annoying to me after Worst Cooks in America. They both did ridiculously well though so I wasn't too upset that she won.

overall, I want Aaron Sanchez to win. He's my favorite judge

Forgot to mention that looking at that haggis on-screen almost made me want to vomit. Extremely impressive that they could make that stuff taste good.

they should have all of the judges competing, with the top three winners from the Chopped Champions as the new judges. There are too many friends now so the judges wont really throw down like they normally do, get some people in there who might hold a grudge from all the criticism they took

I thought that they said it was actually pretty good, he just fucked up the sear. It probably would have gotten him through in 99% of the other competitions (and the previous all-stars episode as well)....he was just going up against ballers last night. Felt sorry for him...because he was obviously disappointed about being chopped first.

it didnt appeal to me, visually

i guess thats all i can go on

but on the real, i think alot of these guys are getting passes for their presentation compared to the rookies in the other versions of chopped, like somebody said earlier about these judges

i cant speak on the taste, but some of these presentations look like ass, the rookies had to come wit it much harder

Just got around to Sunday's episode. I still like the All-Stars series, but it's kind of getting ridiculous. Last night they definitely wanted Nate and Anita in the final round. Anita shouldn't have made it out of the first round. Not only did she not plate everything, what she did plate looked like something a 12 year old would make. She had a good entree, but I don't think it was enough to get her into the desert round.

And if a normal contestant would have made a ravioli that looked like that, they would have been crying after the judge's comments. Either the judges are "scared" of critiquing their peers or they are instructed to not be harsh. They also didn't mention anything about her not doing shit with the granola until they showed that her plate had been chopped.

The food put out in that episode fell in line with some of the regular chopped episodes. Definitely not close to the level that Burrell and Irvine put out last week. I'm hoping next week's guys can pick it up. Chopped judges should be experts in that shit.

I agree.
I can't believe she made it to the next round without having plated everything and yeah, it was sloppy as hell. I don't think I've ever seen an episode where they were like "well yeah they didn't get everything on the plate, but paprika and butter made into a sauce was good enough! LET 'ER THROUGH!"

lol at Torres fishing chocolate out of his pocket. I think he knew he was screwed from the get-go.

I don't even know why they got him on the show since he is a chocolatier instead of a chef they knew he would get chopped right away. I also thought it was a weak episode and Anita definitely shouldn't have made it through the second round much less the first. I did like Nate though and I look forward to seeing him in the finals.

Agreed on all counts regarding Nate, Anita, and Beau. I was half-expecting them to give it to Anita after the way they were blowing her all episode but they shocked me by giving the right person (of the two available options) the win.

Aarón Sanchez is my pick.

Felt like this past Sunday's episode was pretty solid and didn't seem to be as "rigged" as the others. You could have made a case for Freitag making it to the desert round, but all the dished looked pretty even. Same goes for the final chop.

Unless Anne fucks it up, she should still take the finale. But gay, red hair guy is definitely going down in the first round.

Nate Appleton won

This thread is the 3rd hit, lol.

^second link now

i doubt the rigging simply b/c he still has to actually make the food - he would have been out first round if he'd forgotten an ingredient or something... everything is in new york, so i imagine it's more like ussjbroli stated

regardless of being rigged or not, i thought it was a good finale and his son standing there at the end was a great moment... they really gave them some tough ingredients (that rabbit kidney taco looked good though)
