Yep

How does that work?

((16*52/sqrt(16^2+9^2))*(9*52/sqrt(16^2+9^2)))/((16*50/sqrt(16^2+9^2))*(9*50/sqrt(16^2+9^2)))*100 = 108.16%

There's more to power consumption than just electricity costs. The earlier Plasma TVs put off enough heat to practically heat the room they were in. It's not as big of a deal now as it used to be, but it's still a legitimate argument.

This is pretty tempting. a 60" plasma for [effectively] $500. I can deal with the inputs, but I'm a little worried about potential glare...

Not to shit all over that, but I just read a review the other day trying to pick a model for a store front. Was really leaning toward this ST50 but I think brightness would be an issue.

I read many reviews like that on each of the panasonic sub-lines last year, but at visual inspection, the vt50, and i suspect the zt50 this year, offer a "visual noise" reduction that i've yet to see in any other plasma besides the kuro and the new top of the line samsung, though the samsung wasn't quite as good. best i can describe it is plasma picture always bothered me in that the pixels appeared to be moving, even on static images. dark text or shapes against light backgrounds always had little artifacts I could see where LCD/LED didn't. the top panasonic was the first line where that went away for me. i'm told the GT is the exact same panel but with plastic instead of glass and in 50 and 60 vs 55 and 65.

anyway, i dont need a new tv but a smaller set would be beneficial where i'm moving so i just put it out there

Why would you ever turn this on for most tv shows and movies? It makes them look horrible. My TV is set to 24hz for 95% of the content I view.

I picked up a 60PN6550 off a dell giftcard deal back in August for my Man-cave and I paid like 780 after taxes and got a $200 giftcard....I'm pretty sure the 5300 is really similar because when Dell ran out of the 6550 I was reading on slickdeals that they were sending the 5300 as a replacement. All that said, for $500 bucks, imo, you really cant beat that deal for a 60"

one thing that's bothered me about plamsa is they stared as size kings but the largest you can get now is a 65"(vs 90" led) which aint so bad except the jump that size is nearly double what youd pay for a 60". i understand the ppi @1080p leaves much to be desired but what gives?

Because at some point you just have to suck it up and get a projector.
