I've got one. Have the box and everything. I know it got great review for a tn panel. It's Asus VH242H. Got it last august and no problems at all. I'd let it go for $125

Do you need an IPS panel? What sort of connectivity would you like (DVI, HDMI, Display Port, etc...)? 1920x1080 or 1920x1200 display resolution?

I have one of these:

It's great, has a ton of inputs. The only problem is that it's discontinued and you'll likely have to order it from another state. I would totally buy another one. 3/13/2011 11:44:00 PM |

^ That's expensive.
qntmfred, if you have the money, go for one with an LED backlight.
ASUS is a great brand for pretty much anything.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236117
Has an LED backlight, 50,000,000:1 Dynamic contrast ratio and it's $180 after a $10 rebate.
LED backlights give a more consistent backlighting, about 10% more energy efficient over the CCFL backlights, they DON'T dim over time (CCFL backlights will dim over time. After 3 or so years, it is noticeably dimmer, whereas my LED backlight on my Mac that is 3.5 years old is still just as bright and vibrant as it was when I first got it).
There's CCFL 23" monitors for $150
If you really want a 24" monitor, ASUS makes one as well:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236117
It has an LED backlight and it's $210. It is the same 1920x1080 as the 23". 3/14/2011 12:12:15 AM |

i ended up getting a ASUS VH242H (not ajsimeon's though - thx for the offer)
i don't know enough about displays to appreciate the difference between TN and IPS screens, so I just went for the cheapest 24" with good reviews i could find. that model is a couple years old i guess, but should do the trick for a while 3/14/2011 12:24:17 PM |

True, but I was looking for something with component, composite, HDMI, and DVI outs, and it has a TV tuner to boot.3/14/2011 5:07:05 PM |
