any tips on how to make it work?

my wife and i used to do the same thing basically but for different companies and now we are going to do the same thing for the same company - they are moving us to australia to run the technical side of things in our new office there - there's only 1 managing director and an office manager/admin besides us so it's a pretty small place although we each have our own office

we both agree that we'd have a hard time working for my company in the same office that we have in atlanta but it'll be quite different in melbourne we think but definitely know we have our work cut out for us

If you owned the company might be different, but this just seems like you will be working together....this means you can go to lunch everyday with your wife, take breaks with your wife, and just spending alot more time with each other. So, instead of just seeing each other after work and on the weekends, you will be doing that all the time. You should be very happy! If you were the director and she was the office manager, might be different...but you are basically equal in terms of duties and no one is the boss. Just will suck when you have an arguement at home and she carries it over to work, basically ignoring you for a bit until you are out of the dog house.

working at the same company as my wife is awesome. we are in different business lines though so it seems really different than the scenario you are talking about.

If you are going to be working together, you HAVE to find a way to leave work at the office and personal life at home. It doesn't matter how hard it is, the first time that a fight at home spills into the office or an office dispute gets brought up at home, it will be the beginning of the end.

I hope it works out for you though!

It means you will have no life other than your home life. Period. We have a couple at work, and its all family all the time.

Maybe you are like that, but most people aren't.

Find a way for 1 of you to be off-site with a customer often. 2 people simple can not spending 90% of their waking life together, as a species we are to annoying.

Up until about four months ago when I changed companies, my wife's office was directly above my own. We worked for the same company for 5 years, and in the same building for 2. Different divisions yes, but it was a small real estate firm and we saw each other all the time as department heads.

While we didn't have any issues keeping arguments of work and home separate, there was a nice 'variety of conversation' element that returned when I went to work in a different industry. Best advice I have (aside from a solid separation of work/home) is avoid being caught up only talking about the social or business aspects of your workplace.

we've just started week 3 and so far it's working out well - we traveled together the first 2 weeks bouncing from clients and prospects and finally will have a full week in the office

her biggest worry i think so far is that we'll become more coworkers than married

nice, congrats on the move. Australia is great, i lived there w/ my gf for awhile. Try not to get too pissed though when the Australian sexually harass the shit out of your wife. For that is what I learned Australians do.
