Why is this popular?

Someone put it on at work yesterday saying "it took 2 YEARS for him to do this, it's awesome"

And it is basically hip-hop tunes striped of the beat that is overdubbed with white people music that goes on and on at the same tempo for at least 45 min.

This shit is just intolerable to me. It is the first time that I have ever demanded that someone at work stop playing music. There is no bridge, no chorus, and I thought that techno was bad.

I am convinced that people like this because there is no way that it will ever become mainstream.
