But now if you were like "Hey what did you get on your SATs?"
No one would remember. I don't even remember what I made on my SAT. 12 something, but that's all I remember. 3/20/2011 11:09:29 PM |

yeah my younger brother was all like I got a 1650 on my SAT...and I was like "how the hell did you get that score?" and then I was like "oh yeah, you gotta write now"
my other brother fell asleep during his SAT so we're not even sure what he got 3/20/2011 11:12:34 PM |

It's not just that they're scored differently, the math section went from algebra 1 and I think trig material to covering up to Algebra 2. I think the lit section got easy, but the writing sucked ass. 3/20/2011 11:16:15 PM |

Most places I applied to used the ACT (Vandy, UT, Marquette, Georgetown and GT), not the SAT so I dont remember what I got, but I do remember not knowing you could take in a fucking calculator.

^^^^ Makes sense though, if your score isn't memorable you'll be less likely to remember it. I think I got a 1270 but I'm not that sure.
^^^ Shoot I was happy enough with my 12 something on my first SAT. If I got a 1320 I'd stop there.

I actually got deferred from both UNC and NC State because my GPA wasn't very good. Eventually got into both but picked state because I wanted to go into CS.
If I knew I'd switch majors I'd have gone to UNC instead honestly, and I would have definitely been happier with the sports teams I cheer for 3/20/2011 11:47:06 PM |

^^^^And this was back when their SAT average was like 1250, too.
I took AP classes. I made all As and Bs except for a C in ELP or something. I didn't do much in the way of activities. I didn't take the AP exams. I was blackballed from NHS by a teacher who accused me of cheating (but could never prove it cause I didn't cheat). And I went to a competitive high school--I didn't crack the top ten percent for class rank.
A family member of mine (who was also a legacy kid) made a 1380 on the SAT, was in NHS, was in the top ten percent of her extremely competitive, nationally-recognized high school, did take/make 5s on her AP exams, and she did do a bunch of extracurricular activities. She came along four years before me and didn't get into Chapel Hill either...so we weren't surprised when I didn't.
I guess my mom musta rubbed some people the wrong way when she ditched the sexist pigs at a liberal Chapel Hill to get her PhD from a real school like State.
GO PACK!!!
[Edited on March 21, 2011 at 12:53 AM. Reason : They really were sexist, and State was better.] 3/21/2011 12:29:05 AM |

i wish i didn't remember my SAT scores, but unfortunately i remember quite clearly that i got an embarrassing 670/630, and then an even more embarrassing 650/650.
i've found that people are much more cryptic about GRE scores. not in this thread though.
[Edited on March 21, 2011 at 12:43 AM. Reason : also, anyone who just gives a sum for a GRE score should be punched in the face.] 3/21/2011 12:43:14 AM |

^^^^It has a lot to do with geography. They can only accept so many kids from Wake County, and within a county, only so many kids from each school. Her situation was still insane though...they actually thought there might have been a mistake and called people up and stuff to try to get her paperwork corrected...and they were like, "Nope, no mistake."
^GRE confession: 1280 (640/640). My goal score was 1300, and I was upset that I missed it by 20 points. I told a bunch of people, hoping they would tell me that a 1280 was good, and they did not. AHA
