The bit about "cup of joe" originating in WWII is a crock of shit.
People often attribute it to Secretary of the Navy Josephus Daniels (famous Raleigh resident) banning grog on naval ships and instead insisting that sailors drink coffee, though etymologists argue that the phrase was around long before Daniels.] 3/24/2011 2:42:58 PM |

Both of my moka pots came with silicone gaskets and they're cheap (TJ Maxx) junk. I didn't know any of them still come with rubber gaskets.

^ interesting...the gasket on my wife's old moka (real "moka" pot, by bialetti) was shot, and i wanted a larger one, anyway, so we got another bialetti...i noticed the rubber gasket immediately and so i took it back and got the bodum (which came with a spare, too)
this was less than a year ago
