will someone fucking explain this to me?

nothing on my network is requesting anything near the bandwidth that is being shown on the WAN. not to mention, my cap is fucking 3MB/s. So the fact that it can spike to 30MB/s makes ZERO FUCKING SENSE. it's making my internet unusable when it happens (it doesn't constantly happen but it can go on for awhile). i've sent an email to the support people but they probably won't ever have a clue.

i'm on an apartment internet service, NTC. they are connected (at some point) to the NCREN ring if that makes a difference.

it took like 2 months for them to finally tell me it was impossible to fix after i kept pressing the fucking issue. support told me they had no idea what i was talking about me, got the complex to email the support contact they had, who said they didn't have the package here to do it, then i went to the DISH website where you can lookup where all sports games will be and what package you need to watch it, where it clearly said you just needed the package they already had.

Examples of traffic destinations that you are not aware that any of the devices connected to your network are supposed to be contacting.

I'm not sure how much wireshark is going to help if the problem is not a virus or something on your computer. You want to look at some type of router logging.

To clarify, usuites NTC service is 3 Mbps, not 3 MB/s.

I usually just tether to my phone when the internet starts fuckin up.

well plugging directly in (And the issue still seems happen occasionally) and shutting down everything i can, i feel like there's far too much happening that isn't coming from me. but i'm assuming its the way the network is setup, i'm seeing packets that don't involve my IP address but do involve other local IP addresses. a lot of them, mostly TCP if that's significant at all.

i'm gonna take a wild guess and say that this is a /16 subnet

in which case you're most likely seeing a metric shitton of broadcast/multicast traffic.

in the pcap you got before, go to Statistics > Protocol Hierarchy. take a screenshot and post it here.

yeah if ~99% of it is TCP, it's unlikely to be garden variety broadcast/multicast traffic, but we'd have to look at the packets themselves to get a better idea of what's going on.
