Not looking for an amp kit, mostly looking for a good length of some 8ga power wire, a fuse block and some other odds and ends. Any shop in Raleigh sell just lengths of wire and blocks? 3/31/2011 5:16:16 PM |

I thought about Radio Shack, but they dont have car stereo fuse blocks. They do have the wires however. 3/31/2011 5:39:46 PM |

Your best bet is a place that does only installations. Sound station and security or something like that. 3/31/2011 5:58:32 PM |

I was searching for some wire a few months ago and did not find it. I did check out these places and this is what I found: Best Buy = No. And the kits were unbelievably expensive...Like $70 minimum or something. Creative Acoustics = No. But they did have some cheap kits.
No idea on the fuse blocks. I'd call around.
Circuit City and Best Buy used to have it on spools and sell it by the foot back in the day. Kinda messed up they are making you buy an overpriced kit to get what you need. I think it's their way of padding the installation costs (yeah, we'll install an amp for $50, but you need this $70 set of wires!)

don't you live in/near youngsville? the place you need to go is trader joe's. i'm not talking about the liberal grocery store. i'm talking about the original trader joe's. it's a garage behind his house. he has all sorts of amateur radio stuff including wires, antennas, anything 12/24/120/240/480V. you cant beat his prices, too. i know it sounds odd but you have to trust me on this one. if it's deals with electronics joe will have it. i buy all my electrical stuff from him.
he's got weird hours just so you know: m-f 6pm-9pm & sat. 9am-2pm.
here is his shop:

^Oh god I've been to Trade Joes countless number of times. I'm into amature radio and pick up my stuff from him, and his son is one of my customers. It is a really cool shop.
He has the wires, but no fuse block. Guess i'll have to just order it offline. 3/31/2011 6:40:05 PM |

Something like that. Goes inline between the battery power wire to the amp. 3/31/2011 7:50:34 PM |

Compare prices for fuse blocks with digikey or other electronic part suppliers... depending on the length you need, you could just buy a set of 12' 8ga jumper cables for $20... Or you can get 250' for about $55. 3/31/2011 8:53:49 PM |

These are fine for anything that only needs 8 gauge and they're cheap. Not to mention that you probably already have some spare fuses if you ever pop one.
To me it look like 4 gauge to me. Even if it is 8 gauge it looks like it is overpriced and made for show. Just go with the first one.
