Did anyone check out the two part premiere last night? Overall I enjoyed it, I'm glad they aired two episodes as the first was a little slow. Not so sure how I feel about the female lead...I'm glad they didn't go with an actress too attractive or big for the role but she seems lifeless at this point. That being said, DVR is set and i'll continue to watch. Sundays @ 10pm

to add on here, i did read this morning that the actress was 4 months pregnant during the filming of the pilot episodes. This was the reason for the large windbreaker and her real lack of doing anything. Apparently she sheds these as the season progresses.

I liked it a good deal as well, and it was definitely a good decision to air two episodes as a premiere. The atmosphere and deliberate pacing remind me of Rubicon. They could tone down the ethereal/angelic chanting a bit though.

I watched it and liked it. It's super Canadian.

Has anybody watched the original from Denmark or whatever?

There is really nothing Canadian about it except where it's filmed. Tons of American shows are filmed in Vancouver, BC.

?

There are also multiple Canadian actors in it as well.

And I'm clearly aware that a lot of American television is filmed in Canada.

The canadian/american co-produced programs all have the same generic feel to them when it comes to location and setting details. And the law enforcement shows are even worse with indistinguishable agencies and costumes. Flashpoint's first 2 seasons are perfect examples of this. The killing wasn't this way at all.

The Larsen family is devastating.

I'm already really invested, and I hope there's like a reason or some sort of perverted purpose for Rosie's murder. If it turns out to be something totally random, oh Lord, I don't think I can handle it.

The mayor committed the murder to torpedo the councilman's chances of winning.

Frat-Car and I just watched the pilot

here are some of my takeaways:
I liked it
I'll watch it again
Something's up with the councilman's dead wife...there's a twist there
There are only like 5 people who know about the dead girl....who's the mole?
Are those her hand prints or the killer's in the cage?

I kind of like this about her so far. I mean, there's plenty of time for her to "come to life." I'm looking forward to see what it takes to really get a rise out of her. So far, what she's done has all been pretty mundane, typical stuff for her.. ya know? We saw a little from her in the most recent episode.

I know we're talking about a main character on a show and she should be captivating in some way, etc. Or at least that that's the typical approach. But I find the story and variety of characters plenty interesting and think her personality keeps the show grounded some. I guess my point is that I find it interesting that she is just your typical person at work. Nothing terribly out of the ordinary for her just yet - if anything, it's been somewhat of an inconvenience to her and she'd rather not have to deal with it. Unlike other cop shows where every second is an adrenaline rush of some sort.

I'm enjoying it.

My fiance said about 10 seconds after he was introduced that it was the teacher. I'm 100% sure it wasn't him (or at least if it was - not for any reasons we would think).

I'm pretty convinced myself that it is the dads fault, and I was thinking this before last episode when they really seemed to focus on it.

Although I sort of hope not - it would be too similar to Mystic River.

What is treme? my roommates watch game of thrones, but they also happened to read the book last summer before i lived with them and i don't feel like doing both at the same time. I think the teacher was involved, or somehow knew. It will be tough for them to explain him and someone else carrying her out of his house without putting the blame on him, however it is way too early to be pinning the blame on someone definitively

I just don't get the Treme love.

I must be entertained... it's too boring for me. I watched the entire first season and everyone on here was oooing and ahhing about it. I thought it was terrible. Nothing ever happens....ever

I guess that's the point of the show, though. It's really not to entertain me as much as is it to show the struggles of the NOLA residents and keeping their traditions alive.

Either way, meh

if you want to know who the killer is (from the danish version) click the link below.

spoiler alert
http://bit.ly/mHHuPQ

rumor has it, they changed the killer and the motive. so this probably doesn't even matter, but its still interesting to know.

yeah i'm not too big on Treme, but The Killing is fantastic. You could cut the tension with a knife at the end of the last episode.

how far are we into the season? This show has disappointed me lately with the routine plot tricks and lack of character substance, but I guess I'll stick around until the end of the season.

its a 13 x 1 hour episode long murder case

or course its going to be slow and drawn out

ultimately making it boring and disappointing

I think this show is fantastic, and I usually hate shows like this. The way they had Stan beat Bennett to death the minute you find out he's innocent was very Shakespearean. To me anyway.

Yeah there are excellent juxtapositions (i'm not sure if there is a better term in cinematography) in this show though most of them are predictable. idk i think its the little things that make this show good for me. All of the characters are really believable and have a little bit of depth, but i don't normally watch these kinds of shows either so
